Default Help please! DVD Drive not found/not working (Vista/HP DV9000)

Hi, im an old member of BG. I seriously need some urgent help on this.

My mom owns an HP Pavilion DV9000 Entertainment Laptop. There is a DVD-RAM drive in it. It's been working great. But today i took it out to burn some DVDs when I saw that after Windows loads and im in Desktop, i press the Eject button and nothing happens (even the small LED doesnt blink). I went to my computer and saw that there were no removable drives except my USB Pendrive that i plugged in. I went to Device Manager and and looked for CD/DVD drives but nothing comes up. I restarted the Laptop and saw that the DVD drive's LED blinks BEFORE Windows boots up. I can open the tray using the Eject button which works BEFORE Windows boots up. but after the boot starts it doesnt work anymore. What is wrong with it?

I have Vista Home Premium installed and also Daemon Tools installed in it and I have a virtual drive enabled by DT.

    please help me kindly
    Regards
    Shohail Ibne Mahbub (XTR)

this is only happening after Windows boots up! but it works fine (LED blinks, Eject button works, Disk Tray comes out) even when im in BIOS or in the short period before the OS boots up!

check the 2nd post and the last one. Completely agree with both of them... laptops are such a pain.. tried absolutely everything... no luck whatsoever... gonna leave it the way it is i guess...
