    Cool X79 Board

Mobo makers to display Intel X79 Boards at COMPUTEX 2011

The Computex tradeshow in Taiwan starts in roughly four weeks, Guru3D will be there during the show. First announcements and rumors are already popping up. Motherboard companies are already warming up the attention to the X79 chipset. Motherboards based on this chip will be presented at Computex on May 31 - June 4, 2011.
Since Intel Z68 Express chipset is coming out in two weeks, motherboard makers have turned their attention to the X79 Express chipset and planned to showcase the boards during COMPUTEX Taipei 2011. If you are lucky enough, you can catch some running demos somewhere. Intel X79 boards will be ready as early as August and Sandy Bridge-E processor about a month after. Let's take a closer look at what this high end desktop chipset and Sandy Bridge-E processor have to offer.

Eight DIMM slot based Gigabyte LGA 2011 Motherboards

A new picture of an upcoming Gigabyte LGA 2011 motherboard featuring eight DIMM sockets has surfaced.
This X79 chipset based motherboard is socket LGA 2011 based, once you look at the GA-6PXSVyou'll spot no less than eight DIMM memory sockets, which could enable up to 64GB of system memory to be installed in a quad-channel configuration.
Right to the left of these, Gigabyte has placed the board's expansion slots, which include a pair of PCI Express x16 slots, one PCIe x8 slot, one PCI Express x4 slot as well as a legacy 32-bit PCI slot. Both the x8 and x4 PCIe slots are open ended.
We see six 6Gbps SATA ports, driven by the X79 PCH, and the GA-6PXSV also features two SAS 6Gbps ports placed right near the board's left margin, indicating that this is a server board.
We also see USB 3.0 connectivity, support for the enterprise version of Intel's Rapid Storage Technology (IRST), and a six-phase CPU PWM with DrMOS MOSFET transistors. On the back of the GA-6PXSV, outside of the regular connectors, users will also find a pair of KVM network ports.

We recently noticed that the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD7 motherboard was deactivated at Newegg and we reached out to Gigabyte to find out what the deal was. We just got a response back from Gigabyte and the company says that their flagship Intel X79 motherboard was a limited edition sku and that they have sold out. Gigabyte also went on to say that no more are being produced, thus the board is end of life (EOL). If you want to buy the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD7 mainboard you might be able to find some floating around, but that will be it. We didn't know that this board would be such a limited edition board and already be gone!

No, we don't have this board anymore. It was a limited edition board and it's all sold out.

All X79 boards have DIMM slots both at the right/left side of the processor, it's not only with Gigabyte, so yeah. But the colour scheme is horrible. :/

Holy mother of all things ugly! Gigabyte's X79 board makes my eyes bleed!

I feel sorry for the folks who bought such an ugly little thing, unless they don't give a flying rat's ¤¤¤ about looks.
