can't wait foh Diablo 3.....![]()
Diablo III is an upcoming dark fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game developed by Blizzard, making it the third installment in the Diablo franchise.
The game takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series. This world was saved twenty years prior by a handful of unnamed heroes in Diablo II. Warriors that survived the onslaught of the armies of the Burning Hells have gone mad from their ordeals and it is up to a new generation of heroes to face the forces of evil threatening the world of Sanctuary. Players will have the opportunity to explore familiar settings such as Tristram.
The only confirmed NPCs are Deckard Cain, who has appeared in both of the previous games, and his daughter, a new character that accompanies the hero in quests from time to time. Cain's journal on the official site brings the player up to speed on the events of the first two games. Diablo's world map is composed primarily of two main continents with several small islands in the Northwest region.
Diablo III is similar in style to its predecessor, Diablo II. The proprietary engine will incorporate Havok physics and feature destructible environments with an in-game damage effect. The developers are aiming to make the game run on a wide range of systems, and have stated that DirectX 10 will not be required. Diablo III will use a custom 3D game engine in order to present an overhead view to the player, in a somewhat similar way to the isometric view used in previous games in the series. Enemies will utilize the 3D environment as well, in ways such as crawling up the side of a wall from the depths into the combat area.
As in Diablo II, multiplayer games will be possible using Blizzard's Battle.net service, with many of the new features developed for StarCraft II also available in Diablo III. Players will be able to drop in and out of sessions of co-operative play with others.
An enhanced quest system, a random level generator, and a random encounter generator are slated for use in order to ensure the game provides different experiences when replayed. Overall, the game will include both static and randomly generated levels. Additionally, there will be class-specific quests to go along with the main storyline quests. Blizzard originally planned to have in-game cutscenes, but decided these would divert from the gameplay and decided against them. Two new armor pieces will be available: shoulder plates and leggings.
Unlike previous iterations, gold can be picked up merely by touching it, rather than having to manually pick it up. Sidekicks, unlike Diablo II, are now distinct NPCs who join the player, rather than randomly-generated and endlessly replaceable hires. One of the new features intended to speed gameplay is that health orbs drop from enemies, replacing the need to have a potion bar, which itself is replaced by a skill bar that allows a player to assign quick bar buttons to skills and spells; previously, players could only assign two skills (one for each mouse button) and had to swap skills with the function keys. Players can still assign specific attacks to mouse buttons.
Skill Runes, another new feature, are skill-modifying items that are randomly dropped by monsters and used across all classes. Similar to runes in Diablo II but instead of changing equippable items, they can be attached to skills as though they are items, often completely changing the gameplay of each skill. They also have the ability to make one particular spell in each class more powerful, and give the player options as to how the rune will enhance a particular spell. For example, investing Skill Runes on the Wizard's "Lightning" can allow the players to make the lightning jump towards additional enemies, or, alternatively, adding the runes with explosion effect blows the enemy up and causes damage to the surrounding area.

To know more check here.Activision not counting on Diablo III in 2011 - Gamespot
i think it will come to consoles simultaneously. greedy Activision is again playing tricks. new cod at the end of year and so push this gem to next year. that's why it will miss 2011. diablo is the first rpg i played in my life. it was so addictive. i can still remember my first pc pentium 133, 16mb ram and 4mb s3 virge card.

Diablo 3 could cannibalise WoW players - Blizzard
RPG - not new MMO - is short-term concern, says dev
While many might wonder if Blizzard's upcoming next-gen MMO, 'Titan' will tempt players away from World of Warcraft, the studio's said it's main "shorter-term" concern is if Diablo III will cannibalise the MMO's audience.
Blizzard co-founder and EVP of product development, Frank Pearce has told Gamasutra he thinks the PC RPG is similar enough to attract players away from WoW - but Blizzard might as well cannibalise its own audience rather than a competitor.
sked if Titan might pull players away from WoW, Pearce replied, "It's hard to say. I think even a shorter-term concern is whether or not we might see cannibalization of WoW players from Diablo III when we launch it, because it's a similar type of experience. Not exactly similar, but it's that RPG feel.
"For us, I think it's really important that we recognize that somewhere, sometime it's likely that someone is going to cannibalize World of Warcraft players," he added.
"So it's better we cannibalize them ourselves than let someone else do that, because if we cannibalize them ourselves, they're still a Blizzard customer."
The Blizzard co-founder told Gama the studio's now transferred most veteran WoW developers over to the new MMO project - and that's been "a very deliberate process".
"World of Warcraft has been in development in some shape or form dating back to 1999, 2000, somewhere around there," he explained. "That's more than 10 years, and as cool as it is to be working on World of Warcraft, and as great as I think that would be for anyone to have an opportunity to contribute to something as successful as that, to do it for 10 years is potentially asking too much of someone."
He added: "So we need to be very conscious of the fact that at some point, people that have been on the project for a long time are going to need a change of scenery, to do something new and fresh.
"And so we're very conscious of succession planning and making sure we have mechanisms in place for knowledge transfer to make sure that when someone moves on, someone else will be there to fill those shoes."

Looks like its a bad news for @CvP .

Diablo 3 gameplay trailer reveals Followers
Fresh look at Blizzard's long-awaited dungeon-crawler
Blizzard has released a new video of Diablo 3, showcasing Followers - co-operative companions you can recruit to join you in your quest.
The trailer showcases three types of follower; the Enchantress, the Scoundrel (both ranged fighters) and the Templar (a melee fighter).
Fans on the official forums who are WAY more into the game than we'll ever be have picked out all of the stat-heavy information revealed in the footage. If you're one of those Diablo types, you may find the information below the trailer fascinating. If not, don't even bother trying.
Blizzard said during an investors call this week that it's 'targeting' a Q3 - i.e. late summer - release for an external beta of Diablo 3. Still no release date though. Soz.
- Three Followers: Enchantress, Scoundrel, Templar
- Equipment Slots: Weapon (main/offhand), Amulet, 2x Rings
- There is also a slot next to the equipment slots that has a lock icon with a red "25" inside. All the followers were either level 20 or 21. I assume that we will also be able to equip them with armor once the slot is unlocked at 25.
- Skills: Below the equipment slots are four tiers of skills (three skills per tier). These tiers are unlocked at follower level 5, 10, 15, and 20. You can choose one skill from each tier for your follower.
- Stats: Below the skills is detailed information on your followers armor, resistances, damage, and life.
- Never before seen enemy at 0:54.. some bat-winged type abomination. Most likely a new and improved version of the Blood Hawk Nest from Diablo II. This appears to spawn Fiends.
- Small plants burst from the ground as the Templar is beating on a treant around 1:25
- "Gaurdian" (Tier 2) increases the Templar's resistances to cold, fire, and electricity by 40/40/40
- Object on the ground around 0:20 and ~0:31.. Waypoint?
- Throughout the video, small yellow circles appear on the ground (as if to indicate a clicked location). The character moves there, and in some cases the Follower. (See ~1:12) Possibly a "Attack-Move Here with Me" type command. So perhaps we will have more refined control of our Followers.
- The Enchantress starts out at level 21 (644 Life, 23-70 Damage) and a full set of resistances (assumed: Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, Arcane). Soon thereafter, she is shown as level 20 (620 Health, 22-60 Damage). At this point she only has Cold, Fire, Lightning, and Poison. The last resistance is a yellow plus-sign or cross. The weapon also changes as the level is changed (magical to normal staff).
- ~0:56 Male Demon Hunter is shown. A pair of black arcs/rings appear around the DH as he fires Multishot.
