    Default Internet Explorer 10

Yes, you didn't read it wrong. MS just released first platform preview of IE10 about 7 hours ago!

    Download link: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9739661

    Details: click here.

    ---------- Post added at 06:47 ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 ----------

They will probably follow the old schedule of releasing a new platform preview (PP) every two months. After 5/6 PP (including beta), IE10 final will go RTW.

    ---------- Post added at 07:39 ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 ----------

    IE10pp1:
At the MIX conference today, we showed the new browsing engine along with several new browser test drives that anyone on the Web can try out. You can run these at www.ietestdrive.com to see emerging standards like
    CSS3 Multi-column Layout (link),
    CSS3 Grid Layout (link)
    CSS3 Flexible Box Layout (link)
    CSS3 Gradients (link) and
    ES5 Strict Mode
    in action.

We also demonstrated additional standards support (like
CSS3 Transitions (link) and CSS3 3D Transforms (link))
that will be available in subsequent platform previews of IE10, which we will update every 8-12 weeks.

Also available are new test drive samples for today’s production browsers. For example, Fishbowl is an update to the original FishIE tank that now uses more HTML5 technologies. Paintball is another great demonstration of what fully hardware accelerated HTML5 Canvas delivers.
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.
Please do not PM me for support. You will NOT get a reply. Post in the relevant forum section.

Microsoft today released the first developer preview of Internet Explorer (IE) 10! IE 10 will build on the HTML5 and accelerated hardware graphics capabilities that Microsoft built into IE 9. It also will include support for additional standards, like CSS3 Gradients on background images and CSS3 Flexible Box Layout, officials said. If this build appears to have come out rather quickly to you, then you are correct. Microsoft is working on a faster browser development pace, so expect to see more updates from Microsoft! You can download the IE10 preview here.
Just four weeks after the release of Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft Corp. unveiled the first platform preview of Internet Explorer 10 at MIX11. In his keynote, Dean Hachamovitch, corporate vice president of Internet Explorer, outlined how the next version of Microsoft’s industry-leading Web browser builds on the performance breakthroughs and the deep native HTML5 support delivered in Internet Explorer 9. With this investment, Microsoft is leading the adoption of HTML5 with a long-term commitment to the standards process. “The only native experience of HTML5 on the Web today is on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 9,” Hachamovitch said. “With Internet Explorer 9, websites can take advantage of the power of modern hardware and a modern operating system and deliver experiences that were not possible a year ago. Internet Explorer 10 will push the boundaries of what developers can do on the Web even further.”

No, IE9 is indeed faster than firefox in most cases. Faster than Chrome is many cases. And for day to day use, IE9 is the fastest.

+ point of ff is pure customizability (but what is also a - point cause it makes ff even slower)
+ point of chrome is only more standards support compared to IE9/FF
+ points of IE are darn fast and simplicity. - point would be no built in spell checker (need add-on).

IE9 is a bit faster than crome, but for usability chrome rockz because
    1. chrome uses the top bar as tab bar which saves space ( ie9 doesnt)
    2. chrome installs and uninstalls faster than anything, just one click & boom its open or uninstalled. (for ie9 there is a time consuming installation)
    3. after chrome installation dont have to restart pc (ie9 has to)
    4. in chrome & ff right click a link and the 1st thing is open in new tab which we are very used to, (but for ie9 its pure stupidity cause why we need to right click to actually open a link)
    5. in chrome when we click a link there is a circular motion in tab & a status bar which stays visible until page load (for ie9 after clicking a link there is no way to see if the page is loading or not until u select status bar which again eats space)
    So chrome all the way

ACHHA, why they have to release IE10, when they have just released IE9? Couldn't they just update the IE9 from time to time with those things?

    1. IE has aero snap which requires that empty space. Default IE9 is still smaller than chrome.
    2. Many of your applications (like Garena) and windows itself depend on IE. super fast installation is just not possible. Also, this is a moot point. You don't install a browser more than once. (and you don't install windows more than once; if you do, you are doing something wrong).
    3. same as #2. Other applications use IE. Without restart, it is not possible to update files always. However, keep in mind that, in case of IE9, if the programs which use IE gracefully unloads, IE9 setup will not restart your PC.
    4. right clicking on link to open new tab is stupid. use middle click.
    5. IE has the same thing. check again.

Because that will create problems for business people (think large entities like General Electric, EU Government etc). Business people never deploys something without thorough testing. If you release 100s of version of the same thing, they can't test them. This is IE's release schedule which works great for general people and corporations alike. IIRC, IE5.5 is the only exception in IE series.

On the other hand, Chrome bumps the version number after adding every little feature. They don't really care about business people. For example, they (and moz too) added websocket support, changed it a lot in each version which broke backward compatibility. then finally, disabled websocket altogether! Imagine a large business building their critical app on chrome using websocket. They'd be absolutely pissed off. Google only care about what's there after 10 years: Cloud.
