    Default Intel's 10 core Xeon E7 series

intel demonstrated 10 core xeon series with hyper threading. so theoretically there are 20 cores working. that's a massive performance. price is very cheap!!!! started from $774 upto $4616. come on guys!!!! we all need this power to play games!!!! just kidding!!!

Came out on the April 5th, yeah. Supermicro is still yet to release their chipset for this though, aka no decent rackmounts. And you should stay away from Dell rackmounts if you know what's good for you. Only redeeming feature is the IPMI, derp.

Debian/CentOS doesn't recognize the nic from the desktop boards, tons of patches needed to get the SB server revolution going.

Nop. Xeon is not up against Bulldozer. You should know AMD already has 12 Core Opteron processor. & This Xeon processor is up against that. Intel's Xeon & AMD's Opteron is not actually main stream desktop CPU. Those CPU actually use for some professional purpose. Just like NVIDIA's Quadro GPU.

^ does that even matter, he was just posting a link to intel's future prodcuts, whats with the "how about 6+6 = 12?" Anyhow I do believe a native 10 core is better than 2 6 cores though, as in they will have a better communication bw between the processors.
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

What about dual 10 core xeons? 10+10=20 (x2=40 threads ). I won't say no to quad CPU setups either. Yes, considering the prices, it may also be a choice. But it depends on what the company wants to use the CPU for.

That is right. But it is not a huge problem as the programs they use scale very well, minimizing the limitations.
