I also have 4GB of RAM and I use Windows 7 x64, but I've never faced such problem. And as far as I've seen, 2GB RAM gets 5.8-5.9 rating, and 4GB gets 6.3.

see if you have a feature called "memory remap" in your bios settings, if it's disabled, enable it.

Also check how much ram you're sharing with your integrated graphics as you have a H55 chipset.

Thirdly, if you've edited the boot settings via msconfig and set the maximum memory to 4096mb then uncheck the memory setting.

Lastly, if all fails, try updating your bios.

    Hope this helps...

and if you've already done everything mentioned and more, then simply ignore this post

    btw, i get a 6.4 with my ddr2 800 4gb at 830mhz

i have a discrete gpu as well but faced a similar problem, 8mb of ram out of the 4gb couldn't be found! after i disabled the igp in the bios, i recovered all of 8mb! lol! but try to go through the user guide of your motherboard. there should be something similar to memory remap. also upgrading the bios might help (last option in my opinion, as it's an uncomfortable job, at least for me). hope you find a solution soon.

@gunda vai:- no problem at all. apnar ram er jai somossa bollen oita may b tamon problem na.karon Ram er 0.04 percent ba erokom windows e na dekhano tai savabik bshes kore 32 bit e.But as far as i know and see that 64 bit e 4gb ram always 4gb e dekhay. (3.87 useable erokom lekha thake na).R ek laf e amar ram er rating kome gese and the rating is same as a 4gb DDR2 in 64 bit.so i think that being a DDR3 ram it performs like a DDR2.so i am a bit anxious.

Ar sound card er jonno apni device manager theke giye manually try kore dekhte paren kaz hoy kina.

such as device manager>multimedia audio controller>Update driver software>Browse from my computer hard drive>then locate the folder where are the sound card drivers are.

Yeah ur right there is something fishy going on ur ram. You should contact the retailer if its still under warranty. There are chances of messed up settings in the bios or issues inside the mainboard itself.

There is something reserved some space of your ram. Go to resource monitor and see it. Desable your onboard graphics and set you dedicated gpu as primary.
