Default PC Buying Help (for my friend)

    Hi everyone!

I'm back again with questions on what to buy and what not to buy, though this time it's for my friend! He’s a new gamer and does not really know about PCs much. Moreover, he doesn’t have a net connection yet to look up things. So he asked me to help him and here I am once again to discuss my choices with you people.

Now, this friend of mine, he can bring his motherboard, RAM and CPU from abroad (USA) only, so he was wondering if he should take that opportunity or not. But he doesn’t have a really big budget. So I worked with what I had and this is what I found:

By the way, I was thinking that he should go for an AMD setup coz he doesn’t have the budget and Intel products are pricey. He lives in Chittagong but he can go to Dhaka to buy his computer.

    MOTHERBOARD:-
I checked on Ebay and Newegg and this is the narrowed down list -
Choice No. 1 – ASUS M4A77TD (need a good review for this) – Price 6500 Tk (approx.)
Choice No. 2 – ASUS M4A79XTD EVO (need a good review for this) – Price 8000 Tk (approx.)
The reason I chose these is because they fell within the budget and had some good reviews but I want to know what you people think!

    Processor:-
    AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz – Price 7300 Tk (approx.)

    MOTHERBOARD & PROCESSOR COMBO:-
I found a motherboard and CPU combo on Newegg.
It consists of an AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz processor and ASUS M4A87TD EVO (need a good review for this) motherboard – Price 14000 Tk (approx.)

    RAM:-
    Choice No. 1 – 2x2GB Twinmoss DDR3 RAM – Price 2x1800 = 3600 Tk (approx.)
    Choice No. 2 – 2x2GB Corsair DDR3 RAM – Price 3300 Tk (approx.)
Choice No. 3 – 2x2GB Kingston HyperX Blu RAM – Price 3700 Tk (approx.)

    Hard Disk:-
    Samsung 500GB – Price 3000 Tk (approx.)

    Power Supply:-
    Thermaltake 500W – Price 4500 Tk (approx.)

    Graphics Card:-
His budget is 15K. So you suggest a good card for him. My choice was the AMD Radeon HD6850 for 17K.

    Casing:-
Anything good looking within 4000 Tk

    Monitor:-
Samsung 21.5” LCD monitor – Price 11500 Tk (approx.)

    Speaker:-
    Microlab M-200 – Price 2500 Tk (approx.)

    UPS:-
    Appollo 800VA – Price 3300 Tk (approx.)

    TOTAL AMOUNT = 61,300 Approximately

Oh can you also tell me whether ADSL 256Kbps will be a good choice for his internet connection?

The help would be greatly appreciated by both me and my friend! Thank you.

I don't get why don't you just add a few more bucks and get the Phenom II X4. And HD6850 costs 15K now. And for RAM, ADATA XPG 2GB 1600MHz RAM is available for around 3.5K I guess, which I would recommend.

And yes, 256kbps BTCL is good, but would be better if he can get the 512kbps package

Tell him not to get Corsair or any other high-performance RAM unless he's going to overclock.
