Default Need suggestions for buying a new PC

Here i am again asking for all your suggestions for buying a new PC. Total Budget is 50,000/-Tk and it will mainly be used for gaming.

I know 50,000 ain't much for a gaming PC but this is the maximum price my cousin can afford at the moment.

It doesn't matter if the processor is AMD or Intel.

He is probably gonna buy this PC tomorrow. Price excludes Speaker and UPS.

    AMD Phenom II X2 555 - 8k
    MSI 760GM-P33 - 4.5k
    2GB DDR3 RAM - 1.8k
    500GB Samsung HDD - 2.8k
    Gigabyte HD6850 - 14.8k
    Thermaltake Light Power 500W PSU - 4.5k
    Samsung B2030 20" Monitor - 9.3k
    DVD RW - 1.7k
    Case + Others - 3k

    Total 50.4k

PS, i think Phenom II X2's are unlockable to X4's.. So this would be better than an Athlon 640, coz the Phenom has 7mb cache, whereas the Athlon has 2mb cache Or if you can increase your budget by just about 1.5k, then you can get 4GB's of RAM instead of 2GB's

Don't you think the CPU will bottleneck the HD6850? And AFAIK, not all boards can unlock cores.

AMD Athlon II X4 is 8000 and AMD Phenom II X2 555 is 8000 too? :S

BTW i don't know anything about unlocking or which mobos allow them. So can you be a little more specific and what about the bottleneck Dee bro is talking about?

    Yes both are 8000.

If you don't like to tweak around the BIOS and do stuff like that, then you can go for the Athlon X4 640 as Dee uncle suggested And about the bottleneck, IF the cores can't be unlocked, then the 6850 might just bottleneck the Phenom X2, so if you want to be on the safe side, the Athlon will be the best one for you. But do get a 6850 if you're spending 50k on a pc, 5770 is not recommended.

Actually at first I wanted to tell him to buy Phenom II X4 and 6850, and the total price was more than 67K. :\ So I suggested the Athlon II X4 and 5770. 5770 is not a bad card, nephew.

no of cores dont bottleneck cards :S , its just that games that utilize more cores benifit from the extra cores, besides these processors wont be a bottleneck to a card like 6850, at stock speed any processor is a bottleneck to anything beyond a GTX 460.
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

    Zulk ,who told u that?
    At full hd(all max) farcry2 bottleneck 6850 using 4 cores q6600.
Yea, game utilizing 2 cores r mainly dependent to [email protected] but games getting 4 cored native soon/already...
So, of course some openworld cpu intensive game can bottleneck 6850 on a 2core cpu even in full [email protected]<50fps

Go for the Athlon II X4 640 & if you can increase your budget try to go for the GTX 460 or AMD 6850. Athlon II X4 640 is one of the best CPU available regarding priceerformance ratio. Athlon X4 combined with a GTX 460 or AMD 6850 will serve you for a long long time BTW my SSC is over & I'm going to buy a new PC within next week & my budget is also same 50-55k & I'm also planning to go for Athlon II X4 640 & GTX 460 or AMD 6850

If you are looking for 1080p, then I would suggest for ASUS MS228H 21.5" LED monitor. Its the best monitor in this price available around.
    Its price is 15k.

It looks like my cousin is going to buy a GPU later. He will use the whole 50,000/- for the PC. Then what processor should he buy now?

No gpu? bear in mind without a proper GPU he wont be able to play games.
    Id suggest
    Phenom ll x4 955 - 12K
    Msi 890Fxa GD70 - 16K
    4GB ddr 3 ram- 4k
Samsung 1tb - 4.7K(buy 2 of them if you can for RAID setup)
Now this sort of exceeds the 50 K mark. though if you do get this it would be EPIC.
    PSU - 5 ~ 6 get something decent
Casing - whatever you desire .
Monitor - Get a 20 inch LG, should cost you no more than 10
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

Sad, the age old and ever lasting absolutely completely utterly pointless decision to stick with Intel and not getting whats best for the budget. Oh well, i've heard SB B3 stepping motherboards are out in IDB already, guys here can help you out with prices, but fitting SB within this budget would be tight and reduce the budget for other components. I'd suggest going for a first gen i5 along with a P55 motherboard, then spending more on the monitor, etc.
