This has got to be the biggest step for PhysX. Finally akta major engine er support pailo.

As for DX11 on consoles, jei feature e ashuk, it'll be highly dumbed down. Performance r visuals balance korte hoile they will definitely leave stuff like tessellation out of their games.

lol how can they bring dx 11 features on consoles when the hardware itself cant support anything above Dx 9 and is comparable to Radeon HD 1900 series gpu ?

The news clearly shows that next gen consoles will be based on dx 11. A hidden message. No wonder they updated the engine and is now showing off.

Default Re: Unreal Engine gets DX11 support

Well UE3 already did Dx10 with gears of war in pc, maybe they tweaked dx9 for consoles and added dx11 for pc for newer tittles on UE3 engine before UE4 comes out, frankly I dont like UE3 engine, too many games use it and its visuals arent that impressive, never was Imo. The best visuals are still found on Cryengine 2 which will be 4 years old now, sadly not even Metro 2033 surpass in terms of overall realism in graphics.
New gen consoles will support Dx 11 but I dont think the current gen cant, ps3 has a 7800GTX equiv which is dx 9 and Xbox 360 has a 2600Xt (or 2400) equiv which is dx 10, but games look worse than in Xbox 360, before people start hating on me for that statement Id like to say that I do own an xbox 360 but I prefer ps3's visual.
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

^Its proven that consoles natively produce Dx9 Like Gfx, the hardware architecture also has to support the effects of the engine. The engine will probably support DX 11 for pcs and not consoles.
But anyhow if its the engine that creats the effects so why can we not run something in DX 10 with dx 9 cards :S, your saying its the software that enables the hardware to create effects which probably isnt the case. I could be wrong though, correct me if I am.

Ya consoles e always DX9, not exactly DX9 cause technology different, but the effects are similar to DX9's.

arre bhai current gen console cant show off dx 11 effects. Even in pc, u need both dx 11 supported OS & software and dx 11 hardware to show dx 11 effects. U cant just show dx 11 effects with a Radeon X1800 nor in Windows XP with GTX 580.

And consoles does have system software/OS. Not as complicated as a full fledged OS but it does have system software.

    Read it from wiki.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenos_(graphics_chip)

Support for a superset of DirectX 9.0c API DirectX Xbox 360, and Shader Model 3.0+
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_system_software

Xbox 360 system software is the updatable software and operating system for the Xbox 360.

But anyhow if its the engine that creats the effects so why can we not run something in DX 10 with dx 9 cards :S, your saying its the software that enables the hardware to create effects which probably isnt the case. I could be wrong though, correct me if I am.
u r right. Taile graphics card ato update korar karori lagto na.

And unreal engine akhon mainly designed for consoles, due to its market share in dat platform.

hoyto na. basically directx is an API (application programming interface). that means it allows other softwares to gain access to resources. your logic is right. but you can fake specific effects. suppose the best part of dx11 is tessellation. but wasnt there any tessellation before dx11? there was. but it was troublesome to implement. dx11 made it easy. there is another api, opengl ( name has been changed, i am not sure). with opengl you can produce several dx effects but it will use more resource. good example of opengl game is doom3. aar console er power somporke aami khub beshi jani na. tobe UE3 jehetu console minded, mone hoy kichhu ekta thakbe jeta consoleo sob na holeo onek dx11 effect show korte parbe. think how will battlefield 3 look in consoles? far inferior? i dont think so. ami vai really technology niye khub kom jani. so perdon me if i am wrong.

true. Actually gears of war series and Unreal tournament chara amar r kothau unreal engine bhalo lage nai temon. The engine particularly suited those game environments.

I do hope cryengine 3 makes into other games. Also hope Rage engine does. Wish Doom 3 engine cud get popular. It still had the best lighting and shadow effects as per my personal opinion.

actually opengl api is used in ps3 as it doesnt support dx 9. This is another reason y developers say programming games for 360 is more similar to pc than ps3 coz it is easier to port from 360 to pc and vice versa due to DX APIs.

Effects fake kora geleo jiboneo pc level er moton hobe na. Tessellation to ageo chilo from Dx 9.0c i guess but Dx 11 er moton parbe na.

Battlefield 3 beshi different hobe na coz ajkaal maximum games console er limitation chinta kore banai. If u imagine that consoles had not existed, taile akhonkar games er graphics arooo much much much more advanced hoito.
