Default Dead Space 3 Rumored to come in future

    EA CEO John Riccitiello believes
    that the Dead Space franchise
could reach the "five million unit
    cadence" with "Dead Space 3,"
    though he didn't outright
    confirm the next sequel.
    Riccitiello was listing off the
    company's "strong, growing
    franchises" at the Goldman Sachs
    Technology and Internet
    Conference, reports CVG, when
he footnoted Dead Space as a
    franchise close to becoming one
of EA's biggest. After rifling off
    names like Madden, FIFA and
Need for Speed, the exec said,
    "That excludes Dead Space
because I think it will probably
take Dead Space 3 before we get
into that five million unit cadence
    versus say three, four."
EA has already invested quite a
lot in Dead Space, making it an
    expansive, transmedia property
    (spanning animated films, comics
    and a novel). That commitment
    seemingly paid off with the
release of Dead Space 2 last
    month. The sequel trumped the
    first game's launch sales "2-to-1,"
    according to EA.
Now, if only there was room in
EA's purse to support just one
    more franchise.

    Another source -

In what might be the most
obvious bit of news you'll read
    this morning, Electronic Arts has
all but confirmed Dead Space 3
    by way of silver-haired Lothario
    and CEO, John Riccitiello.
    Riccitiello mentioned the game
    while talking about franchises
    hitting five million sales. He
    namechecked Madden, FIFA,
Need for Speed, Medal of Honor
and Battlefield, as well as Mass
Effect, Dragon Age and The Old
    Republic. He added that Dead
    Space would need one more
    game before becoming a mega
    success.
    "That excludes Dead Space
because I think it will probably
take Dead Space 3 before we get
into that five million unit cadence
    versus say three, four," he
    declared.
There you go, Dead Space 3 was
    mentioned. That means it is
definitely a thing and we have to
    go utterly NUTS with speculation.
IT IS A THING OMG I BET DANTE
    WILL BE IN IT!

    other updates way back -
    Although Dead Space 2 won’t
be out until January of next
    year, Visceral Games is already
has plans for Dead Space 3 and
    beyond.
You can’t fault Visceral Games for
    their lack of ambition. Dead
Space 2 won’t be available to
scare the crap out of you until it
hits stores on January 25, 2011,
    but the games executive
    producer has told Eurogamer
that they already have plans for
    Dead Space 3.
Of course, for a Dead Space 3 to
become a reality, Dead Space 2
must first be a success. But
judging on the effort EA (which
    owns developer Visceral) have
    put into the marketing and
    multiple properties developed for
    the series, including a Wii
prequel, a comic and a anime
    movie called Dead Space:
    Downfall, Dead Space 2 would
have to be a complete failure to
    kill the franchise.
The series is EA’s take on the
    survival-horror genre, crossed
with a sci-fi setting. The first
    game follows the amazingly
    unlucky engineer Isaac Clarke, as
he and his team answer a
distress call on the USG Ishimura,
    a “planet cracker” mining ship
deep into a restricted sector of
    space. The rescue ship is
    damaged while docking, and the
crew is forced to explore deep
into the ship, and it soon
    becomes obvious that there
    is something horribly wrong
    aboard the Ishimura. Through
the course of the game, Isaac
    discovers that the crew have
been mutated into a race of
    monstrous Necromorphs, who
want nothing more than to kill
Isaac. As he struggles to survive
    and complete objectives in order
to escape the ship, Isaac begins
to suffer dementia due to the
    “marker”, an alien artifact
    responsible for the outbreak.
The sequel picks up in the
    massive space city the Sprawl
    following Isaac’s rescue, but the
    Necromorph infection has
followed him, and he must again
    try to survive.
    Dead Space executive producer
    Steve Papoutsis has confirmed
    that the developer has mapped
out a “huge timeline of events”,
that it hopes to delve into for the
    third Dead Space game, and
    possibly many more.
    “We’ve mapped out where we’d
like to go with it. Not at a super
high level of detail. But, for
    instance, we’ve just released our
    novel, Martyr. We’ve talked about
    the inception of the Unitology
    religion.
“We’ve thought about it all. But
    ultimately, just like with Dead
Space 2, we have to have the
support from the players in order
    to do it.
    “Hopefully the game comes out,
people like it, it has critical
support, and a lot of people buy
it. And then we’ll get an
    opportunity to do another one.
“Nobody’s going to just let you
go and do another game just
because. You have to have the
people that are interested in it.
“That was what was great about
Dead Space 2. There was such an
    outpouring of support that it
was easy for us to get the
company behind it and give us
    the opportunity to make it.
    “Games are complex and
    expensive. It really helps when
you’ve got a lot of people who
    are excited and supportive of
what you’re doing. We can do
    great things when that happens.
    “But when there isn’t an
    outpouring of support it doesn’t
make a lot of sense to do that.
    “We’re working really hard to
make sure this game’s better so
we get a chance to do Dead
    Space 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 20.”
Dead Space 20 might have to
wait, but Dead Space 2 is due out
for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on
    January 25, 2011.

Assassins Creed II's post isn't clear that's why am clearing it out .

EA Boss Drops the Dime on Dead Space 3

Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello has indirectly confirmed that the Dead Space series will get another sequel, saying he doesn't think it will become one of the publisher's big-money franchises until Dead Space 3 is released.

Dead Space was cool but wasn't a huge seller, putting up around two million units sold in roughly two years of release, a respectable number but hardly gangbusters for a triple-A title from a major publisher. Dead Space 2 is doing considerably better, approaching unit sales of two million after just one week on the shelves. But Riccitiello told an audience at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference that he doesn't think the Dead Space series will really hit the big time until the third game is out.

"Right now we've got strong, growing franchises including Madden, FIFA... Need for Speed, Medal of Honor and Battlefield - I include them as one because we're unlikely to ship them in any one year at the same time," he said. "[There's also] Mass Effect... Dragon Age... and the one that's sort of not proven that's coming later in our fiscal year, Star Wars [The Old Republic]."

"That excludes Dead Space because I think it will probably take Dead Space 3 before we get into that five million unit cadence versus say three, four," he added.
It's not exactly carved in stone but the implication is obvious: Dead Space 3 is coming. Of even greater note, however, is Riccitiello's apparent willingness to show patience with franchises that may not be a huge success out of the gate but show big potential for the future. That's an approach to making games that I think I could learn to like.

EA has said that early Dead Space 2 sales were double those of the original.

i think DS3 will be prequel.

@ Reventon, you actually said what was in my mind. DS was way scary than DS2. afsosh etai valota keu thikmoto kheilai dekhe nai. othocho er theke lower quality hoya sotteo DS2 sold more than double of DS. even gameplaywise DS2 seems easy to me. i died only 3 times until reach level 10. then it was a little hard. anyway i enjoyed it. and still cant play multiplayer.

ds2 te action beshi. Which ds1 lacked. Abar ds1 e horror beshi which ds2 lacked. So basically ds2 got much action and horror mixed up. And as for the sell. Its obvious for many reasons. One of dm is its success of ds1. Anothr might be its req. U know it can run maxed out in a low rig even. My 9400gt n p d processor n 1gb ram maxed out. So those who didnt got gud rig also bought. After playing DS2 I have to admit that I'm also waiting for DS3. Even I'll say this franchise is clearly going for Resident Evil crown in horror genre.
