One thing that article doesn't mention is that even in you don't see improvements in unlisted games, the drivers often contains fixes for graphical glitches in same games. Like in the 266.66WHQL, they fixed an AO issue but was not mentioned in the changelog.

Furthermore, this article just provides an average FPS, check out G3D.com's user benchmarks, you'll see the jump in minimum FPS with new drivers, but the average is close to the same. IMO, minimum FPS' are more important that max FPS' because the minimum affects your gameplay experience a lot more than the max FPS does.

The 266.58WHQL is a gem though, on par with 265.90 Quadro drivers.

What is the difference between Quadros and WHQL driver.I use 266.58 WHQL driver which increases 0.1 score. Does the Quadros better then WHQL drivers?

This are only the starting. I though you are telling that over years maximum 10% increase will happen, right?

Quadros are another type of GPUs made by nvidia for professional use. But they both use the same drivers thanks to nvi's unified architecture. I personally didn't see a difference between Quadros and normal drivers in general, I used the 265.90 because at that time it was the best and no other driver could match it. However there are some people who swear that textures are clearer and sharper when using Quadro drivers even though the performance remains the same.

I once thought about testing out the image quality myself, but didn't have the patience to do so.

Can I use it for my GTX 275? Like using NVIDIA GeForce To Quadro Soft-Mod Guide. Is it safe?

Ya you can and its totally safe. You just need a modded inf file which lists your card as a supported device, thats all.

You can get all links here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=333572

But make sure you use the proper INF. English driver has a different inf, and the international driver has another.

Oh and if you do install, please do take some screenshots Take some up close and from long distances and then again take them with the quadros.

@Mohiuddin new WHQL driver also increased score from 7.5 to 7.7 in case if GTX 460. I get it from other GTX 460 owners. windows score is disgusting but did you find a GTX 470 which scores lower than GTX 460 (both at stock). Actually Nvidia is best in term of driver optimization but since you have ATI, you become nvidia racist. If anyway you got an nvidia instad of ATI then you will become an Ati racist. Same way when I will have my next ATI card, I will become an nvidia racist.

Is it really true that nvidia users sacrificing a little bit rawpower in every time for some addons like phyx and 3d? What about CUDA? I likes its cuda which used in Badaboom video converter. Does ATI stream also provide the same ? And what about tessellation? Is it really needed for DX11 games? It wold a big help if you clear my idaea. Because from you I know about ATI's driver support.
If possible then @aayman_farzand can also add something.

About the drivers, I think both companies promise at least 12 sets a year, doesn't have to be monthly releases though.

    ---------- Post added at 14:51 ---------- Previous post was at 00:22 ----------

Sry I didn't see my tag earlier. Obviously there will be a performance hit if you enable PhysX, it doesn't come free afterall. But in driver updates, PhysX rarely gets updated. The last one was at the time of Mafia 2's release.

As for CUDA, I only use it for CoreAVC for video playback enhancement. Didn't use badaboom because I don't need to convert videos. Btw, I forgot to mention, this driver set fixed a CoreAVC slowing down/stuttering issue which was preset in the last 3 sets. Not mentioned in the changelogs though.

Default Re: Nvidia Driver Comparison [on GTX 580]

I got ripped off after buying a 2nd hand XFX 9800GT green considering it's current market price, I downloaded this version of the driver thinking it might ease the pain a little bit with a little performance gain, but with this driver, it shows me all sorts of flickering with Crysis.. And a 10 degree core temperature increase that seemed to have disappeared the moment I switched back to an old driver. Some mature drivers, hey? I thought only ATI I mean now knowns as AMD makes crappy drivers, but after some digging, it turns out it's only safe to switch to a latest nvidia driver "after" a month or two of a driver release since nvidia did produce a few killer drivers, that literally killed the cards.. Don't care even if the GTX 5XX or the 4XX series users profited from it.. That's my two cents about this release of the drivers.

Yes the 500 and 400 series owners greatly benefited from these, they should as these drivers are primarily meant for them. nvi has squeezed out as much as they can from the 9000 series of cards, so I don't think upgrading the drivers will make a difference for you,

You missed my point, the latest driver just introduced some bugs to the 9xxx series or atleast to my card, not only I see flickering in Crysis but my temperature while the gpu is under full load has raised ten degrees, an astonishing jump from 65 degrees to 74~75 without any improvement in fps (measured by fraps on screen fps display) so no way I can accept such mistakes with an updated driver version from nvidia, but I guess this is not the first time, I remember they also released a driver around 196.XX that had a hidden threshold for gpu fans spinning at 60% at max load causing many gpus to fail! Killer drivers, oh yeah!

Hey, I just noticed that both my aero and 3d graphics scores in the windows experience index have jumped up to 6.8 from 6.7 with the 266.58 installed but it also shows that my processor score has dropped to 5.9 from 6.1, but if I uninstall and re-install the XFX authorised 260.99 drivers, my processor index scores jumps up to 6.1 again but the graphics scores jumps drops to 6.7, wonder what's going on?

:S No idea, I didn't even know GPU drivers could even affect the processors scores in anyway. My processor score has always been the same. And these drivers are a lot better than 260.99. At least use the 263.00WHQL.

To make sure of the situation I cleared all previous windows experience index scores and made a total re-assessment of the scores, I am also :S after seeing the processor score dropping by 0.2 with the 266.58, used driver sweeper each time I uninstalled drivers to make sure it's a clean installation, and one more problem, with the 266.58 driver the nvidia control panel sometimes works, and sometimes the window just freezes and my cpu usage goes up to 50% but task manager shows it's running and not in the "not responding" state and I've to end the process tree looks like I will have to download a new driver. On topic, drivers can certainly increase performance of a card, when the 8400GS came out, unreal tournament 3 was barely playable with the drivers that were available back then, but after a year the drivers for it made a lot of improvement and getting good frames with 800x600 with the details set to medium was possible with it, and the GTX 4XX and 5XX drivers still have a long way to go, I envy anyone who possesses these cards @aayman_farzand what Quadro card do you own? I'm into Ut3 map building and using 3D studio max and maya are my hobby, the quadros perform significantly better for 3d studio max and specially maya, as they are designed for workstation use. However, the regular soft modded cards seems to work as good as quadros, the soft mod doesn't improve performance in gaming, but the viewport corruptions and the performance in 3d designing application while having a regular card soft modded seems to work as good as the workstation cards, from experience I can assure you this, with the regular 2600XT maya used to work like $#¡T but when I soft moded it to a fire gl, not only it increased performance but it got rid of the viewport corruptions, and I read somewhere that there're moded drivers for quadros to that're guaranteed to get you a lot more out of the quadros while running studio max, can't quite remember where I saw it because I haven't had much time in the recent past to do something creative, so didn't try soft modding my current nvidia gpu.

I don't own any Quadro cards, what gave you that idea. I just used the 265.90 Quadro drivers on my 460. 2nd best drivers I've used so far

Uhmmm.. Even if they're quadro drivers, chances are the driver that is being installed to your gtx card is no different than the drivers from the regular nvidia drivers.. as your card is not a Quadro card, Graphics card manufacturers earn a fat amount of profits from these workstation based cards but all these cards do is just enable hardware acceleration for softwares such as 3D studio max or maya, and with the soft mods the regular cards can also enable hardware acceleration for these softwares and performing just the same as their Quadro counterparts, so the performance gain you're talking about could just be not cause of the quadro drivers but improvement in the regular drivers that was integrated into the quadro drivers as well, but then again as long as you're happy it doesn't matter whether it's the placebo effect or not.

I know the drivers are the same, but you asked 'what quadro card I owned' which is why I said I don't own any.

And there are performance improvements in the Quadros 265.90WHQL compared to the previous Geforece WHQL, if there weren't any then I wouldn't have recommended it to anyone. ManualG said back then that the new Geforece WHQL would not be very different from 265.90, and that was correct. This 266.58WHQL is not very different from the Quadros and the performance is similar.
