Thread: Casing fan

  1. #1

    Default Casing fan

Hello guys, I have one question regarding Case fans.

Recently my casing original fan has stopped working and i have removed it.
So can i now connect TWO casing fans in the chassis?.

I'm posting some pics for help.

The first pic is of the connector where the "original' casing fan was connected. So i can easily connect just one fan to this plug.(first picture)

Now my question is where can i connect the 'other' casing fan?. The mother board? or something? because my PSU has just one fan connector i think. (as shown above)(or should i use a converter here connecting two fans to one plug of the PSU in first pic?)

This is my motherboad there is a port called sys_fan. Is that it? where i can connect 'another' casing fan?

    This is my motherboard layout.

Also any help regarding prices of these fans (the best quality of course) would be really helpful!. Also if i need a converter or something, I need to know their names etc. Im really noob at this.(naming ports)
    Thanks!

u can connect 2 fans in 1 molex connector bcoz every fan has 1 male-female connector allowing to connect multiple fans there......the sys_fan connector is for fans with 3-pin power connector....

Yes all fans have two male/female plugs. So you mean if i buy one fan, the 2nd fan would be connected to the first fan?. ok.
And the sys_fan is a 'four' pin btw not three. (if possible can i plug in the 2nd one here?)

If your 2nd fan has 3 pins, you still can connect it to the sys_fan.. Connect the 1st fan to the PSU, and the 2nd fan to the sys_fan.. There's no need for converters for connecting one single extra fan

@error amio non brand 3 pin connector fan paoa jai jantam na...

ar you can even connect a 2 pin fan to 4 pin sys_fan connector...

just have to match the +12v and G points...

in 4 pin the others are PWM and speed control...probably...

you can see that in the manual there is a pin break down of every connector...

i bought a 120mm case fan today, but it has a 4 pin connector (molex) i plugged that to the PSU. But that molex connector 4pin does not plug into the port that is on the mother board labelled as "sys_fan". The fan's port is too large for this.

I looked in several shops but i think i need something like this, because it wud be exact fit for the sys_fan port in the mobo. >

PWM plug fan. So far there wasn't any available!!. And if there is a Molex-to-pwm converter then it wud be helpful too.

    Lemme make it clear,

You bought this type of fan, and so, you just have to connect the connector to one of the PSU connectors thats it, you don't have to connect it to the motherboard..

but if you have bought this type of fan, then you can connect it to your motherboard sys_fan port, something like this..
