Thread: UCC experience

  1. #1

    Default UCC experience

Hello all, it maybe seem im new to this site. But I have been visiting bg forums for quite some time now.
A few days back a friend has helped me post about a problem here regarding my GPU. And you guys have helped me a lot through this.

    the story goes>
I bought a xfx 5670 from UCC a month or 2 back. And after i got time to assemble everything i found out there was a problem with the card. Playing any game always crashed and use to freeze. So i posted in BG forum seeking help with the help of a friend's account (i hope u guys dont mind that). And after you guys helped i finally found out it was a hardware problem with the card.

So a week back I went to UCC to change the card. They tested in my machine and told me its my motherboard problem this and that etc and lots of excuses. And since the fair was going on they didnt pay attention at all. So i asked them politely when I should go there to get their attention? they told me to come after fair. ok FINE.

So this week a few days back i went there with the card. Without testing or talking with me the took the card and gave me a slip. I tried hard to explain the problem they simply didn't care. So i came home giving them my xfx 5670 gpu.

The next day i went there bikaler dikey. (i tested the card in other frnds pc and same problem appeared so i know 110% the gpu is faulty). As i walk in the store im thinking i shud get a new xfx version 5670 from them and i was ready for that.

So the guy who was supposed to test faulty stuff tells me.."koi dheken problem nai shokal thekei game chalu ase" so i go there and test a few games on 'their' machine. and with god's miracle it ran smooth!!! (whereas in my pc the problem appeared within 5 mins of playing any game).

So i was really shocked and surprised!?

THen i tested it in my pc played for another 30mins and WOW! not a problem?. But i was determined jey aita shombhob na kono bhabei!! Card faulty aita ami jani. SO i played again for 1 hr and finally problem appeared after every 5 mins!!.

So i tell them LOOK there is the problem!. The guy says ok and without notifying me goes to the room and brings another xfx 5670 card without any packet or anything!.
I pick the card and see pichon dikey tel er moton chaap lege ase. its like oil print or something and the card looked dirty too!.

SO i ask them politely, "bhai please amake nutun akta fresh unopened box den".. after saying this they went violent and ballistic. They started accusing me "why the hell did i come here and why the hell im asking for fresh box?".. my dad was there too he also asked them about new box. But 6 or 5 of them gathered in front of us and insulting me and my dad there and repeatedly saying they wont give me a fresh box.
One short guy there also threatened me that " Apnar der moton customer er jonnoi aishob problem hoi apnar, and apnake abar ashte hobe"
    ... (wth?)!..
(my dad is an old person why insult him?)

The situation went so far that it almost went to hata hati obosta. Then i come out and look in the shelf. to my astonishment the new boxes of 5670 are GONE!!!. And also thru the corner of my eye i see the staff there exchanging sign languages??! and winks? (unbelievable!!) they have went to such extents?? !

So i ask them "plz give me a card within 8500tk" they say " amader ai dame kono card nai,"
(wth?...how is this possible? taile ki amar 30hajar takar card kinte hobe? extra diye? naki 3000takar card kinbo ami?)

Then i talk with my dad and he says take the 5750 from shelf. I take two 5750 . Both box were opened and one 5750 had a marker written thing on the back and the other didn't
So after facing this harassment i pay 2300tk extra and took the sapphire 5750 and by the grace of almighty its been running fine..

Now to you ppl. i Know some of you are younger than me and my post is just my experience that i faced. And i posted this thread just to warn you guys so that you ppl dont fall in this same situation like i did. I went to ucc for this minor problem for like 6 times. They act drunk. they dont reply to ur questions, and they dont care and aneek baje behavior and insulting attitude.

Two three 17-18 yr old uneducated boys work with the machine and assemble them in the back of the shop. (yea thats how it works)
The head engineer of watever. is there to insult ppl again pochafy them . (1000takar pant e 200tk belt) ( told this to my friend when he saw the casing).( while testing my card i also heard really baje type comments regarding customers they were assembling machine for, one aunty was there for a machine and the type of comments they made is just unbelievable and i cannot elaborate it here)

Most young teenagers among you i know go to UCC since it dominates the market. But i warn you ppl plz plz be careful and its better if you avoid UCC nex time. Who knows what trap you may fall into.
Say if i were a 14-17yrd old i wud definitely fall for the " bhaia bhaia.. kamon asen bhaia ashen boshen cha khaan this an that" but under their mask they are horrible people.

Thank you all for your time.

UCC really sucks, and there are many customers reporting about UCC in different threads. After reading your post, I swore that I will never buy anything from UCC, even if they offer a 90% discount. And thanks for sharing this experience, I can feel how irritated you were at that moment.

OT, can anyone please tell me how is Index IT in terms of customer service?

Thank you, the replaced card they were trying to force to give me, i saw oil print type thing? well it cud actually be 'thermal paste'. And I knew that if u put that paste on the microchip board openly and directly, it may overheat the card and damage the gpu in long run no?. (cus that paste is for CPU).
And im quite very sure that particular 5670 was another warranty exchanged card given by some 'other' customer. Maybe they wanted to damage 'this' particular card so that i dont come back the 2nd time to replace the card? since warranty does not cover 'damaged or burned' hardware. ( the thermal paste strategy was another tactic? )

And besides all of their other gpu boxes were opened and fiddled. They remove the adapater dvi n all. + the cross fire cable+ psu 6pin cable etc they separate them.

There is no need to be violent. If u really feel it then u may spread the news.
And slowly avoid UCC next time for 'each and every one' who wud buy 'any' pc component.
This is the best treatment. They will loose market. loose customers and that's the best lesson any business can get.

There are cases in history, where business like these (yes i mean pc shops in IDB) bcus of this type of attitude, lost customers and over time disintegrated. ( i wont mention the names here to maintain integrity). (and UCC is not an old shop afterall, they came to the peak from the year 2007-8).(im talking about shops in IDB that was there even before UCC was there in the year period 98-2003/4)

(Kids teenagers fell for the GPU craze in UCC)

So far i bought 3-4 machines and numerous uncountable pc components parts from various shops in IDB. Never before i faced such an experience. This country is surely gonna rip apart itself. Shameful.

no problem, friend.no provoking. I just got excited to read what they behaved with an old guy and their attitude towards that respected anti.ok. No problem, i was too excited.
Yea, public concerning is the steady and peaceful way to give them a jolt.
First step, PLEASE MODS MAKE THIS THREAD STICkY in the 'pc buying help' subforum, i saw similar sticky thread in different forums.Thanks.

Well, @NZE_141 ; I feel very sorry for you. I went there to exchange my problematic XFX 5850 BE (26k) for a Sapphire 5850 (23.5k). They first wanted a few hundreds more (because of the market price) but at last, they surrendered as I already spoke to the owner of UCC the day before and we had a deal. They have been polite enough to me (or "us"?). I heard lots of people complaining about their horrible customer service. That is why I took those precautionary measures. It also does not hurt to have good relation with an employee there who will help you out.

After a few days I phoned them and complained about my UPS (not revealing my identity). They were polite the first 15 seconds but when the technical debates started and the moron just couldn't keep up, he went mad and talked rudely. Maybe this is because the UPS was not 20k+ product or I did not take the aforementioned "precautionary measures". As the problem was not so significant, I decided to let it go. But I am not going to do that again.
