Default AMD'S upcoming Mainstream Gpu- Turks

In this quarter of the year AMD scheduled to release two entry level Gpu namely the 6570 and 6670. Both SKU's based on Turks(40 nm) will have 480 Stream Processors, 16 Rops on 128 bit memory interface. As model number suggests the 6570 will be at lower speed clocked at 650 MHz while the 6670 will pack 800 MHZ speed. We might see the 6670 may pack 1 GB fast DDR5 memory while 6570 on a slower 2 GB DDR3 memory. The two SKU's (6670 and 6570) will replace previous generations 5670 and 5570 respectively. The official release date and specs are yet to be confirmed.

Edit: After released for the OEM few months ago, in 19th April AMD released Turks Gpu based HD 6670 along with HD 6570 and Caicos based HD 6450 for the retail market. HD 6670 holds same specs that was previously released for OEM.

Priced around $100 and low TDP of around 60 watts the HD 6670 currently is the fastest card (reference design) available that doesn't require additional power connector which is ideal for HTPC use and casual gaming.

Heres some review sources of Radeon HD 6670

Latest news on Radeon HD 6670:

We may actually see the Radeon 6670 in action pretty soon as a German system builder has already put the upcoming mainstream Gpu from AMD on one of their product. Named as Medion Akoya P5320D, the system will pack Athlon quad core processor, OS based on Windows 7 price starting from 499 euros. The Medion will arrive on the market this week. From previous leaks we now know that the 6670 will pack 80 more stream processor, double the Rops and 25 more MHz core speed compared to the previous generations 5670. Together with the HD 6670 its younger brother the HD 6570 will also expected to release officially by AMD in this quarter.

No other details are provided, but the appearance of the Medion system on the web suggests we are not that far away from Turks' official debut.

Hope 6670 becomes available soon here in bd, though the price would be arbitrary as always.

Default Re: AMD'S upcoming Mainstream Gpu- Turks

AMD released Turks based Gpu for OEM :

AMD recently listed two more Gpu's on their website built around the brand new 'Turks' core, the HD 6670 and HD 6570. Compared to its predecessor, Turks packs improved specifications, as it features 480 stream processing units, 24 texturing units, 8 ROP units, as well as a 128-bit memory interface compared to the 400 stream processors and 20 texturing units that were used in the Redwood GPU.

In addition, the new 6000-series GPUs feature the UVD 3 media engine that brings 3D playback support as well as other improvements over its predecessor.

Both the AMD Radeon HD 6670 and the Radeon HD 6570 are based on a full version of the Turks core, the main difference between the two solutions being the type of memory installed and the operating clock speeds.

Starting with the more powerful HD 6670, the GPU comes clocked at 800MHz (25MHz more than the HD 5670) and can be configured with either 512MB or 1GB of GDDR5 memory that runs at 1000MHz (4GHz effective).

In comparison, its smaller brother has to make do with a slower core, that is clocked at 650MHz, while OEMs can opt to configure the card with either DDR3 or GDDR5 memory.

Going for the slower DDR3, which has its operating frequency set at 900MHz (1.8GHz effective), allows them to install between 512MB and 2GB of video buffer while opting for GDDR5 drops the upper limit to 1GB.

The improved clocks speeds, however, will more than make up for this, as GDDR5 memory works at 1000MHz (1GHz effective).

Both cards are marked as “for OEM only,” and no information is provided regarding their availability in the retail channel.

6770 is same as 5770 just a rebrand. The 6670,6570 and 6450 are out although only for OEM and successor of 5670,5570 and 5450 respectively.

OEM means 'Original Equipment Manufacturer'. For example Brand company like Dell ,HP has their own brand products known as OEM products. AMD currently distributed their 6k Lower-end to Mainstream Gpu products for the OEM market only. So its only available through OEM(Brand Company), not in the open market/retailers.

OEM products can be distributed to the open market/retailers and specs of the product can also vary(same or different) upon manufacturer companies decision. Recent example can be GT 440 which was an OEM product for a while(released in Oct 2010) is now available to the retailers(Released in Feb 2011 although hasn't came to BD yet) but the specs is different.

    AMD 6670 Radeon further benchmarked:

Although initially it has been released for the OEM ,some 3D Mark 11 benchmark along with more screenshot of the Gpu has been detailed. Thanks to some Chinese enthusiasts, it is now revealed that compared to the HD 5670, the PCB hasn't suffered any major modifications, apart from the rearrangement of some of the power delivery circuitry, the card featuring the same 2+1 phase count as its predecessor. Also its interesting to see that AMD has decided to cool both the memory chips and the GPU, something that we don't get to see that often when it comes to entry level graphics cards. Other specs of the Gpu remains the same as previous leaks(Gpu-Z shows that 6670 has 16 Rops). Although its OEM only now but but we can't imagine them to be too far away of retail release.
