Default So, how long is my rig gonna last?

I don't know if this is the right section to post this, but I'll go ahead anyway.

I'm using ATI Sapphire 4850 HD. So far I've been able to play games like Assassin's Creed, ME2, GTAIV etc. at full graphics, but how long do you think I can continue to do so? I've been considering switching to consoles for a while now as I've got a hunch that this GPU is not gonna serve me long. My motherboard is Gigabyte EP43-DS3L, will it support the latest GPU in the market(or at least, the decent ones)?

Even if I do switch to consoles, which one should I go for? I haven't heard of anyone playing pirated games on PS3, and I also saw a lot of people in this board complaining about technical problems with modded XBOX360. Is it possible to download and install games in PS3?

It's better if you can upgrade to some new GPU, and your motherboard is a good one for LGA775. And yes, it will support all PCIe cards in the market.

if you like to switch into consoles then wait for xbox720(2012) or ps4(don't know)....ps3 or xbox360 can't bring you anything more than your 4850......

1st of all, 4850 is not that bad.It may be outdated but it's a great card.

2nd, your mobo will support the latest and decent GPUs.

3rd, dunno about consoles but DON'T BUY MODDED CONSOLES.

4th, I have no idea about downloading but it sounds pretty much impossible.

And you could have posted this on Buying Help section.

Gettin a ps3 is very crucial now if u rely on pirated games. Sony will try to modify their existing ps3 so dat the recent hacks of failover and geohot can be closed. So suggestion ta ulta hoilo.

Ignore Frank's take on consoles You can download games on PS3 and the technical problems on the 360 are because of new security measures by microsoft. There's an update available which fixes this.

As for the card, what resolution do you play at?

Edit: Yes tomal bhai is correct, the only fix for the PS3 hack is a hardware revision, and even that'll be tough for Sony as if they do that then older games might not work on 'those' PS3s. If you do decide to buy one, get it within 4-6 months.

There is no technical problems abt xbox 360. Every 360 user is running pirated games fine.

However ur 4850 is still a gr8 card. I also use da same card. It is sufficient.

Whether to buy a new gpu depends on the resolutions u play. So wat is ur resolution?

Also whether to switch to consoles depends if u like to play on console or not. Only u can judge dat. U shud buy console if u feel u wont b able to upgrade ur full pc in next few years at least.

Wow that's enough to scare me away from consoles I'm very nitpicky, I neither have the patience nor the technical knowledge to screw around with consoles to play pirated games. I think I'm gonna stick to PC.In fact, I've always enjoyed PC gaming, and the only reason I ever bought a console was to avoid having to upgrade every now and then.

Actually, the reason I started thinking about consoles was that almost all games are released for consoles and some titles are never released for PC. Then, there are some games like Assassin's Creed whose PC versions are released at later dates and the timing sometimes becomes inconvenient. I've been eagerly waiting for HAWX2(the first one blew me off my feet), but looks like the crack won't be coming out anytime soon.

All I need is my GPU to serve me at least 1.5 more years, I don't think I'll have time for games after that. I usually play at 1440*900 res, but I'm not steadfast about it.

Eh :S Whats so technical. You don't need to do anything, when the time comes for an update, take it to the shop It'll cost you Tk1000 only. And these aren't very frequent btw, like once a year.
