When I had another desktop of mine, I connected them using a cross-over CAT5/6 cable.

If you already have a CAT5/6 cable, just go to a computer shop [I got it done from BM, ECS], tell the guy to make it cross-over. You're done.

I played FIFA10, NFS Most Wanted, and some more games. In fact you can play all Multiplayer and co-op games.

I could also share files over the network.

I have never faced any type of issue using this.

    1. No there is no restriction.
    2. You will be needed a few meters of CAT5/CAT6 cables. [If you connect PC-PC you will be needing cross cabling the wire.]
    3. No issue.
    4. Those games have multiplayer mode like FIFA, CS, COD, etc. you will be able to play.
    5. Its very easy just connect the two pc and set up the IP of two pc on the same network range [say 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.0.2]

btw, 3 or 4 month is a long time to come, since then enjoy your time don't worry

i agree with you. otherwise you can buy a router. it will help you to connect both of your pcs to the internet. networking is quite easy. but make sure to use fixed ip or static ip.

Get a router man u can use net on both pc then....or use cat5/6 cable nd tell them to make a crossover or buy a crimper nd do it urself like me......
Cost of crimper: 200-500 tk depending on quality
cost of cat5 cable: 7 tk per metre
cost of cat6 cable: 20 tk per meter
Cost of router: 2400-5000 depending on what type u want...i use 1 that cost 3.1k which is quite good....
    I do deserve a rep...

Of course you can. Crysis (and Crysis Wars) work even with virtual LAN servers (Hamachi for example, which I use personally), so yes it will work flawlessly with "real" LAN.

The simplest way u can set up lan is, go to a shop ask for CAT6 cross cable (mention PC 2 PC) with connectors.
    Connect two PC with that.
go to control panel> network and sharing settings> lan adapter properties> set the ip from tcp/ip protocol.Click image for larger version.

IDK LOL. Anyway do I have to download "Ethernet Lan Driver" ?

    - - - Updated - - -

Ok, I was able to successfully connect them. Actually It was just some driver issue. But speed is too low for downloading data (around 10MB/sec) Is this normal?

@Mohiuddin , as you have only connected two PCs, don't worry about Subnet Musk. Let it be default (255.255.255.0).
