Thread: Thank you ATI

  1. #1

    Default Thank you ATI

1 month back i posted a thread, on my XFX ati 5670 problem.
Everytime i tried to install the driver from the cd, the pc restarted.

So today I got a new mother board+other stuff

my current setup->(all brand new!!)(except for the hdd)

    Gigabyte H55-D2H
    Intel i3 540 processor
    XFX 5670 1GB
    Winstars digital 250gb sata
    Gigabyte 450W psu
Twin Moss 2gb 1333 ddr3 ram (with heat sink)
    +
    (some crappy cpu casing)

So i came home with the new set up, and tried to install the driver that came with the GPU box. PC restarted.
So i went to UCC (because i got the card from there), they checked it in other system it worked fine.
They updated my ATI graphics driver to the latest possible one. They installed it there, pc did not restart BUT when I tried to play a game, the
    >>VPU recover<
    thing popped up every time.

(i tried splinter cell 1 and came home and tried Hot pursuit 2010)
Hot pursuit ran fine for 4 -5 mins (on verrry low settings) then again this "VPU Recover" popped..

They told me to come back again after the fair ends.

Any idea what the problem with this thing is?
( i decreased clock settings to 500 and 925mhz, the temp remained between 42-60'c)
    Still no head way

If this is the problem with all ATI gpu products then Im sorry to say nvidia served me well for years. this is the only time i tried ATI. I searched the net and it seems this VPU recover thing popping up is a serious issue and there are numerous problems everywhere.

    Please help................

You need to download driver sweeper. Clean remove the old drivers, and install the latest drivers from AMD's website..

Seems like a driver issue, did you format after changing the video card?

so much bad luck i can feel ur pain.....my i5 760 gone within one week...would u believe... btw my suggest is the card is problamatic so tell them to change..
People should stop blaming games for allegedly *copying* each other: "oh this game is Skyrim copy", "this game is WoW knock off", "this game is just another DMC" - enough!

On this rate every 3rd person action will be God of War, every 3rd p shooter Gears, every 1st will be CoD.. it's ridiculous. They are called genres people! And if you look carefully you'll see allot more than mimicry out there.

    Yes
    HDD formatted from scratch.
PSU brand new as i mentioned before. (gigabyte superb 450w 550w peak output)

Yes warranty period is still there, bought the card last month.(dec 2010)

    My experience today:-
"Now comes the quality of after-sales service of ucc, anytime, any day you go there u'll find 10 12 cpus piled up and the main talented 'head' guy drowning under them. They tell you to come back after a few days/hours. Today they gave an excuse that because of the IT fair they ARE NOT providing any Servicing or dealing with problem issues.
However they did try, ( they installed the latest driver today/ also checked the card with other system and played this game Prototype) but they were not giving full attention to my problem anyway.

They told me to come back after 23rd, and if there's a problem they said they'll change it.
now the problem is, if their attitude with customers/help-fullness is as such, how many years do I have to wait for the replacement? if it ever takes place?"

Yep tried everything, in fact to solve this issue they need to RUN a proper game with my system and check. Cus this type of problem is a technical+software issue? i think.

However should win7 solve the problem? (im using xp 32bit sp2).(that's the only thing i can do sitting at home before 23rd).

In case of ucc, ora chaina tomake shahajjo korte.first see ,if it is software level problem.u try driver swiper (if u have win7.) to delete amd drivers, and clean install amd 10.10e hotfix(amar kase best suited for my 5770 for most games.).if using xp,try win7 if u have no problem.set all clock default.install latest dx,latest phyx(for phyx needed games),visual redistributable..(all soft needed) as mazhar bro said.
Not solved, go and tell them to change it with confidence as arif69 vhai and error bro said.

Why did you buy XFX? :/ You should have bought Gigabyte or Sapphire. Don't take it otherwise, it's just my opinion.
Try with Windows 7 installed, and if the problem is not solved, talk with them in an angry tone, should do the trick.

Core i processors sucks on XP. Pc restarts while playing games. Memory processing problem. Switch to win 7 u will see a noticeable difference. Ur PC will perform twice as better. In this case I think its a card related problem but be careful not to run Core i processors with XP.
