    Story:
Series hero Garrett returns to the Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game's levels. [Source: GameInformer]

    Gameplay Features:

Gameplay features posted by GamingEverything based on GameInformer cover (Yet to be officially confirmed, so don't hype up if this isn't true):

    • Navigation Beacon: It shows players where to go.
    • “Focus” mechanic: It has many uses, including being able to aid Garrett’s vision as he navigates through open levels. Focus lights up the screen and highlights pipes you can climb + candles you can put out to make the room darker. You can upgrade Focus and doing so will give you a bigger radius of things to see. Focus will show a number of attack points on enemies. You can select a point (like the chest) to do a quick push that will buy him more time to dash off into the shadows. You can also string together a number of points to perform a more debilitating attack.
    • Upgrades: Can spend money to upgrade supplies and equipment at the end of each mission.
    • Exploration: Dev. team wants players to explore environments as they see fit.
    • Accessibility: Every drawer is accessible. Multiple entrances and exists in each room.
    • Stealth Approach: Multiple options available for stealth approach.
    • Fingerpints System: gives you hints on which drawers are best to look in.
    • Stealing: Garrett is motivated by the thrill of stealing something that others can’t take.
    • Pickpocket: You can pickpocket. You can use Focus while pickpocketing to slow time and swipe up to three times as many items from others
    • Artifacts: Various artifacts are scattered throughout the game’s levels. You can use these to decorate Garrett’s hideout.
    • Combat: Team of EM is trying to find a balance between making combat enjoyable and allowing players to enter combat if they want.

    Tools of Garrett:
Tools of Garrett features posted by GamingEverything based on GameInformer cover (Yet to be officially confirmed, so don't hype up if this isn't true):

    • Bow: Powerful, can be used outside of combat (ex: fire at a bottle in another room to lure a guard away, trigger a switch to lock the guard inside).
    • Specialty Arrows: different uses; dry-ice arrow can be used to snuff flames from far away; smoke-starter arrow: cover and a distraction.
    • Blackjack: use when sneaking up behind guards to knock them unconscious.
    • Claw: grapple attaches to certain points.

    Enemy AI:
Enemy AI features posted by GamingEverything based on GameInformer cover (Yet to be officially confirmed, so don't hype up if this isn't true):

    • Fighting against four or more guards in combat won’t go well.
    • Guards and other NPCs are aware of the level design, so they know where a person might try to hide.
    • Guards understand the topography of the level and which areas could be useful for hiding.
    • Different NPCs will look for Garrett in different ways.

Thief 4: World's first screenshot unleashed

    Garrett makes his return

An image of a screen - stay with us here - showing what's reported to be Thief 4 has made its way onto the internet.

The image shows a hooded character, who we're going to assume is series protagonist Garrett using a bow and arrow.

In the background a large, building with plenty of protruding ledges can be seen (anyone for some Assassin's Creed style climbing?).

Series fans will also note that the game seems to have dropped the first-person perspective in favour of a the third-person view. A decision that former Thief designer and BioShock creator Ken Levine might argue with.

Eidos Montreal has admitted Thief 4 is one "worst kept secret in the industry" and originally confirmed the title in May 2009.

Since then rumors of a PlayStation 3 version of the game emerged. Square Enix teased a GDC reveal of the game in January, so we may get a better look at it next week.

@ tanveer, thief is one of the genre defining games. 3 is no way comparable to 1 & 2. but still awesome. 1&2 were grand daddies of splinter cell.

thief 1 & 2 were really atmospheric. at that time creative live! soundcard was just available in bd. i bought that card with 4.1 surround sound. i was like in a dream. eax sound effects just made me thundered. good ol memories. there were many sleepless night i passed at that time just playing thief. i dont think you will like thief 1 & 2. but you can try thief 3. it still runs on win 7 (with some compatibality issues).

no no you sound ok..... it's a really old game. it is sneaking game with a bit conpiracy theory. there is not a lot of importance on action. the environment is you can say steampunk world. middle age with some mechanical tech. semi open world. but i needed to play thief 1 & 2 twice to inderstand the game cause at that time, i was not that much of a follower of storyline. if you have xp then you can give it a try. certainly grafix is very outdated. thief 3 is still comparable. there is a haunted orphanage mission in thief 3. i couldnt sleep alone after finishing that level. so atmospheric.
