    Default Help buying GPU :|

Went to UCC idb branch today.. Checked out the XFX GTX 460 and Sapphire HD 6850.. Both were priced 16k :/...

Will buy one within this month probably.. Which one would be a better choice?.. The HD 6850 or The GTX 460? As both are around the same price range, i'm in quite a dilemma :/

    Suggest ppl

Well, GTX 460 has faster clocks, [25MHz] but if I were you, I would definitely stay away from XFX. But if you want PhysX, you can go for that.

I would suggest the HD 6850.

@Mohiuddin bhaiya, will Gigabyte HD 6850/6870 come to BD?

In case of XFX, there is always some suspicion, and Radeon HD 6850 is a slight faster card.
If you refer GTX 460, than get another brand but XFX.

If you do ONLY gaming, HD 6850 is a better choice. But I would've gone with the GTX 460 instead (even though a bit overpriced) as I do more than just gaming (rendering, video encoding). So, the slightly higher price than usual and slightly slower performance in games would've been covered by the "extra" features that come with it.

PhysX should not be a limiting factor, its just complete nonsense. Nvidia's approach to tessellation is superior to ATI's approach to date (even though ATI claimed it should not be, at least in games), so that can be a game changer, not that half-dead half-rotten PhysX. And XFX products are not always faulty, I owned an XFX 7200GS for 3 years, and it NEVER failed me. Its depends more on luck than a company's name when it comes to silicon chips. Also, when you are comparing products from different generations and/or vendors, clock speed matters little.

Oh, then he must already be biased to GTX 460. Its his choice then, as the difference is negligible, 6850 will not deliver significantly more performance. But he may regret later if he buys ATI (guessing from his fascination to PhysX).

Actually he's not biased to Nvidia, I guess he'll take whichever is more recommended.

No, I mentioned it because he might find it and think that 25MHz is better, and I don't like Nvidia and PhysX in either way. PhysX really is a joke.

Based on my bad experience with XFX cards (dead 8800GT after 2 years), I cannot recommend the XFX GTX460. Also, XFX has released this card only in Asia, it's not available to the rest of the world. All this seems a little bit shady and suspicious.

My suggestion is this: If you can find a GTX 460 from another manufacturer (say Gigabyte) get that, because nVidia has better drivers and compatibility. Otherwise get the 6850, Sapphire has a good reputation with Radeons.

both gtx460 and hd6850 are good options provided, that xfx gtx460 is not considered........like others said, i personally think xfx's card are not durable.....my xfx 8800gt died recently after 2.5+yrs of usage.........you can look for asus gtx460 (dunno whether its still available.....last time i checked, it wasn't available @ idb but i've found one @ multiplan).......if you go with gtx460, then with a slight OC....it can easily outperform a hd6850.....

    আমি সরাসরি কথা বলে দেই............

#1 - Don't even think about purchasing xFx GTX460........these are fakes. xFx company no longer manufactures nVidia card after GTX 200 series. Those are in UCC are solid chinese made fake cards!!! Will function and then....bye bye!!!......2 years warranty?....'cmon.....they are purchasing those craps by 5-6k BDT maybe!!! Use ur sense guys!

#2 - A Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 costs 199$ or 179$ (according to models......check this for reference http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...apphire%20Tech )......which is approximately 12.5-14k BDT. They are asking for only 16k. Now i smell something fishy - only 2k BDT extra then the $ price?.....well it can happen. And if it does then i would say don't think. Go for Radeon HD 6850 Sapphire. It's a nice card and powerful then GTX460. That's why it smells kinda fishy - more powerful card @ same price?....well this is AMD and it's legacy (except 5970HD....)

Now some personal assessment about UCC......please don't take things personal. I am trying to tell u some facts!!!

A Radeon HD5970 25k BDT!!!!.....just what the capital F!!! Open your eyes people........this monster card costs 700$+.......and UCC is saling them @ 25k???!!! Surely it is a Chinese fake xFx staff.

What are they doing? They are literally selling us garbage.....please think twice about purchasing things from UCC!!!
