Default Need help about buying a GPU

Well, I'm gonna buy a Graphics card by the end of this month, and my budget is 7K. It may be reduced to 5.5K if I buy another stick of 2GB RAM for Dual Channel.

I've always been a AMD fanboy, but for a few days, I've been attracted to Nvidia PhysX.

I'm also thinking about buying Joker bhaiya's XFX 4850 XXX Edition, but have some questions about XFX cards in my mind.

*Do XFX Radeon cards tend to last long? I have seen a lot of Nvidia cards dying within a year or two, so I'm worried about buying a 2nd hand GPU.
*What about XFX Nvidia GPUs? Is the scenario still same? Do they die within a couple of years?
*What other Nvidia sub-vendors are available in Bangladesh? Is the ECS 9800GT available?

Now, what new card within 5.5K~7K do you guys suggest? Please post some comparison of your suggested GPU with the HD 4850.

I guess some of you might suggest the HD 5670, but I won't really be happy with a low-range card. And I'll be moving to the latest platform next year, so there's no difference between buying a brand new and buying a second hand card, I guess.

Please note that I'll be using a Delux 400W PSU.

For your concern, XFX has only problems with Nvidia GPU, and also that tends to be 8800GT and its rebranded GPUs. [ though my 8800GT is running for 4 years flawlessly ]

ECS GTS 250 was available ages ago.
you might find 1/2 by searching the whole ECS multiplan center.

HD 5670 is somewhat 12-18% slow and lacks stream processors than HD 4850.

hopefully, because physx is just a software that uses physx calculation done by CPU instead of GPU in upcoming time.

Hey Dee IMO right now buy a second hand ATI 4670.You can find 4670 from Clickbd/cellbazar around 3.5 - 4k with warranty also. And latter buy a better card ^^.And 4670 is quite enough for today games to play @ 1280*1024 resolution.

Please note that I'll be using a Delux 400W PSU.
the first problem is with ur psu.
deluxe 400w psu is not good for neither hd4850 xxx or 9800gt
So my suggestion is get a new gigabyte hd5670 which will have 2 years warranty

AMD FUSION is not anything like physx coding. Its about their processor which will have a GPU core within cpu. Hare is the link.

    http://techland.time.com/2010/06/02/...s-cpu-and-gpu/
    Which says
"AMD is getting ready to put its 2006 acquisition of graphics company ATI to good use with the 2011 launch of what it's calling the Fusion APU. The Fusion APU (accelerated processing unit) combines both the CPU (central processing unit) and the GPU (graphics processing unit) together onto a single silicon die. The end result will be less latency when running applications since commands won't have as far to travel, which in turn will use less overall power while still maintaining performance and offering longer battery life for portable devices."

    Go this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Fusion

    And got this:
AMD Fusion is the codename for a future next-generation microprocessor design and a product of the merger between AMD and ATI, combining general processor execution as well as 3D geometry processing and other functions of modern GPUs into a single package.[1] This technology is expected to debut in the first half of 2011, as a successor of the AMD K10 microarchitecture which is AMD's latest microarchitecture.[2]

Bro, I may buy another PSU. And I don't need a 2-year warranty because I'll be shifting to a whole new PC within Q3 2011. I am thinking about getting the 4850 with a Delux 450W PSU.

@Joker bhaiya, how much Ampere has to be on the +12V rails for your GPU?

@Joker , ami majhe majhei dekhi physx amd peye jacche ai rokom false news. Physx Nvidiar property, they will never give it to their competitor. AMD will never get Physx, they have to find a new platform. Very sad that Havock project failed.
