    ^nope ,i think..even nvidia biased site 'fudzilla' said 6970 would be at least 20%faster than 480.where as 580 is 18%faster than 480gtx.

Ya both cards should be about the same performance. Now all the external factors will make the difference. AMD better not screw this up with poor driver support.

Well 15th dec e hd 6950 release pabe. Digi time 9th dec e report korse dat hd 6970 couldnt keep pace with gtx 580. N so it is expected to cost $50 less than gtx 580 to cover the performance gap. They got news from some amd sources who have tested the gpus. Well its jst a rumour. All we want is competition. Hope hd 6970 ends up faster or par with gtx 580 at a price tag of $500. Not more than that. N rumour says it has 250w tdp.

It's seeming more and more likely that nVidia's going to win this generation. AMD has created a Fermi of its own with the 6970....

And this opinion is based on which fact?

Fermi was a major failure, do you really think AMD has created a Fermi here, when the architecture is based but heavily modified upon Cypress?

Wait three days, and remember this. AMD needs to fill the void between the GTX570 and GTX580. As long as they do that right, and price it accordingly, they win in my book. Reason? Even the Cayman die is 150mm^2 smaller than Fermi v2. A whole 5770 GPU is slightly bigger than 150mm^2. Think of it.

About power, let me say this much. While Fermi comsumes around 250W in typical gaming situations, expect the 6970 to hover around 200. Thats a whole 25% less, as it had been in recent times.

Agreed.but, u said a hole 5770 is ~150mmsq.but ,die increase is not only include just putting some extra smids...and both company has different way to make a gpu..two of them has limitations in die size increase.

Hd 6970 to have 250w TDP n hd 6950 to have 200w TDP. N yes waiting for the gpus.n well if hd 6970 fails to beat gtx 580 then what will fill up the gap for amd single gpu stage in this generation? n seriously if hd 6970 n hd 6950 fails then i think nvidia is on the run again.atleast for this generation. Correct me if im wrong. In my opinion nvidia gtx 580 n 570 obviously done well.n mazhar vai fermi was a failure.bt the refresh board is what actually fermi is.

You dont get my point. 6950 can slot in under GTX 570 and 6970 can slot in under GTX 580. Theres no failure here. I dont understand what you mean by filling the gap of AMD single GPU this generation. 6970 can be $400, 6950 around $300, 6850 around $250 and the list goes down from there. There is no gap to fill.

Is the GTX 460 a failure since it slots under the 6870? Nope. They are just targeting different price points, and performance.

You know what would be a failure for AMD? If the size of Cayman was the same as Fermi. But its not. The size is a bit bigger than GTX460 and competes with GTX 580. Its a win for them. Also, its a win for the consumers. Know why? Because you get more increments in prices. Instead of 4 GPU's at either $350 and $500 (If GTX570/580 price points were matched by AMD), you now have $300, $350, $400, $500. You can fit them better in your budget.

About the TDP, its rated at 250W but typical workloads will have a very hard time pushing it above 200W. You'll see.

I just gave an example. HD5770 is 166mm^2, and Cayman is roughly close to that much smaller than Fermi. No need to get into details, but in the end 90% of the cost for nvidia/amd is the die size.

Uhu. Apni vul bujhechen mazhar vai. Ami failure bolbona jodi amd apni jeta bollen oita thik hoy.ami boltesilam je as usual in performance one tops another. So we all are waiting to see a equivalent or faster gpu than gtx 580. Like its been with gtx 480 n hd 5870. Jodi hd 6970 perform na korte pare gtx 580 er moto then $500 er position ta ki khali thakena?rather not going for compitive range.coz oi range e to onek gpu e ase. In range btw $200-350. Amra shobai ki hd 6970 ke gtx 580 er sathe compete korte boltesilam na?coz hd 6970 is probably the last single highend gpu.6990 will be dual.so will not it be a free to nvidia in the $400-$500 range? bro sorry im wrong.
