    Post Help on 3D Gaming

Hey people I'm fairly new to the 3D display area and would like to know what monitor and glasses should I get to initiate 3D gaming in my PC.

I have a 3D enabled GPU (GTX650Ti 2GB - a little old but will do) and a fairly good PC (Core i5-4590 with 8GB of RAM and an SSD) so I'm good with the performance issue.

Please don't reply giving your opinion whether I should game on 3D or not. Just what I need would help! Thanks!

Your gpu won't cut it, believe me, mine is 770 sli and in most modern games at ultra setting i now get around 60-80fps, so when you will enable 3d, it will cut your fps into half, so in my scenario I would get 30-40 fps. And you have 660ti, which is far behind against a single gtx 770
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1129?vs=1037
So you get the pic, your gpu will give like 3-4fps in 3d, which is not worth the cost.

Also 3d monitors are not available in bd right now, and samsung series(which didn't need stupid nvidia 3d vision to work) are also out of world market. I was lucky few who got their hands on such a monitor. So if you say buy asus vg248q, it will cost you around 300$(including us taxes)+a huge amount for parceling this to bd and also you know bd has stupid tax policy against any monitor over 21inch+ nvidia 3d vision would cost you around 200$. And again you won't be able to utilize it as your gpu is really really underpowered. gtx 980 sli or gtx titan x sli would cut it.

I am not discouraging you,in fact i myself own a 3d monitor which i said in the previous passage, its samsung s23a700d, but i myself don't game on 3d.

okay understood. Thank you for the information. I'll probably get a new GPU soon so no worries, probably a GTX980. No money to buy a Titan X

on the other hand I saw the list in nVidia's website. They only approved ONE Samsung monitor which can perform 3D vision. So I might go with Asus.

    I would need a 3D glass too wouldn't I?

    You should buy 2 970 than a single 980 for 3D.

If you want 3D gaming on a single card, anything less than a Titan X would give you subpar performance (Even a Titan would struggle sometimes.) Your best bet would be a SLI config. BTW I played games in 3D on my Sony Bravia TV. FPS is capped at 30, so I guess you would require a 3D monitor with atleast 120Hz (Someone correct me if I am wrong). As for GPU setup nothing less than a 970 SLI config, single cards wont be enough.

And even though you said not give our opinion I would still say, I was very excited in playing games in 3D, my excitement went down the drain within 3 hours. 3D gaming is nothing but a gimmick. (Although I wouldnt say no to a porn game played with Oculus Rift :3 )

You can get a 3D monitor easily from IDB, it's the ROG G-Sync 144Hz which costs 90k. The only thing that is not available here is the 3D kit.

Well from my experience anything that is very high end and different technology, you won't find them in IDB and the replies of the people sitting there will amaze you every time.

Anyway as much as I know 3D monitors are available, haven't seen any nVidia 3D kit.

And also Oculus products are still in development AFAIK.
