Developer Wildcard Studios on Monday announced an open-world dinosaur game called Ark: Survival Evolved, and the first trailer does not disappoint. Take a look at the impressive video below, showing off the game's varied environments, combat mechanics, fantasy elements, and all manner of wild creatures.
Survival Evolved is currently in development for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. An in-development version of the PC edition will debut in June on Steam as an Early Access title.
Wildcard is a new company staffed by "veteran" designers, though it's unclear what games the team worked on previously. Whatever the case, the studio says many of its team members have been inspired by popular dinosaur movies like The Land Before Time, Dinotopia, and Jurassic Park. The team has major ambitions for Survival Evolved, saying it hopes the game can be "one of the most ambitious hardcore large-scale survival experiences ever devised."
The PC version of Survival Evolved is slated to launch in full during summer 2016, though a release window for the console editions has not been announced.
Survival Evolved runs on Unreal Engine 4, and Wildcard says the footage in the new trailer is taken from "live online gameplay." The game will also support mods on PC, Wildcard explained on Facebook.

About the game:
As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing and starving on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, use your skill and cunning to kill or tame & ride the leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land. Hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements, while teaming up with or preying upon hundreds of other players to survive, dominate... and escape!
The game will include 60 dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, some gargantuan in nature and you can tame some of these beasts to aid you in your survival, but it’s not just the animal life you have to worry about. Other players will be organizing rebel tribes with the aim to destroy anything they see as a threat. Hope and pray this isn’t you as the tech tree spans the primitive stone-age all the way to the modern electric-powered era and beyond.
