Thread: AMD or Intel

  1. #1

    Default AMD or Intel

Ok so far all of you have been of great help!, starting from PSU suggestions to problems etc.

I have used an AMD Pc before for arnd 6 years without a problem! it was a 700mhz AMD processor, now im using dual core, so ill change everything and already started bit by bit.

So i was wondering to look into AMD processors this time and getting the pros and cons from you guys.

Plz suggest me a mid range Processor that will keep up with changing technology for at least 4 years.
+ a motherboard that is also good,
( there is a saying that not all high priced items are awesome right?..)

Also i have no idea on pricing on processors

PS:Im not a hard core gamer, but i do play a few games n all. So i dont need heavy computing, im a medium range user. Just wanna keep up to date with latest games.
    Already bought a 5670 recently

I suggest you wait for their Bulldozer architecture based processors due to release next year. They are supposed to be awesome.

If you can't wait then I would suggest an AMD processor, Phenom ll X6 (they are great for multi tasking). Check newegg for pricing. They are high end but they have really competitive pricing, $180 to $250 depending on model. For a lower budget you can get Phenom II X4 processors at around $150 to $200 depending on model. Though I really suggest you wait for Bulldozer from AMD or Sandy Bridge from INTEL, due in 2011.

If you are planning to keep it for around 4 years, Bulldozer architecture based processor would be great, no doubt. But if you are desperate to buy it soon, then I would suggest the Phenom II X6, 1055T or 1090T. They are not the mid-range CPUs that you are looking for, but they are high-end and are the 'great bang for the bucks' right now.

Now about motherboard, you can get the Asus Crosshair III Formula board for $220, or the Gigabyte 890FX-UD5 for $180.

And if you like to buy Intel CPU, wait for the Sandy Bridge to be released.

nice replies, there was a shop selling AMD processors in IDB, its near the back gate of IDB. Is it still there? i think its opposite to Canon service center in grnd floor at the corner.

And this bulldozer wud surely cost well over 20k!! dont have that kind of budget!!, i can spend at max 14k!

First of all tell me wat is ur purpose 2 ur pc?i guess gaming mainly...in gaming intel cpu z r unbeatable...i recommend i5 750 4 ~15.5k..it can easily compete high end amd proccessors in gaming...it oc like ...if u can get from abroad then ofcourse amd athlon ll or phenom ll quad cores...coz decent pricing in abroad n't in bd...inbd their is another prblm-mobo availability..but d best way is 2 wait 4 sandybridge or bldzr...i heard nd believe bldzr will crash intel's market.

jiboneo AMD bd te popular hobe na. Intel has good market in BD. Not just in consumers home, but in supply chain and distribution too. & AMD needs to sell their processors at lower price than equiv. Intel processors just like in foreign countries. Jeta I think computer shops in bd will never do. In fact I think they will charge premium prices.

It is not confirmed yet about Buldozer socket compatibility. It might be AM4 as some people are saying, because this is going to be based on a whole new architecture. None of the CPU's and motherboard's prices have been confirmed yet, so you won't get the answer to your question until AMD's meeting, where they will unveil the Buldozer.

Current AM3 motherboards will not support Bulldozer CPU's, but Bulldozer motherboards (AM3+) will support current processors.
