    Intel's single core performance far outstrips AMD.

    @xmx
    And it would take a while before games start using more threads so its up to u now.
    But i would strongly recommend an Intel cpu for ur budget.

    At that price the Unlocked FX-6300 seems better to me & with DX12 cores will matter more.

    With DX12 games will be more GPU bound i.e. CPU won't matter much anyway.

    With that Budget for gaming, AMD CPU and Mobo seems a good deal.
    Intel's performance is better, but Games are core- heavy process. Games aren't effected by threads.
    SO getting a CPU with more the 2 cores is better for gaming.
    Again don't compare brand, (ex: Intel Pentium anniversary edition will perform better than AMD counterpart after OC, but u have to find that CPU in BD if U can (for gaming)

    Suggestion- AMD FX-6300+ AMD 970 mobo (whichever brand U prefer)
    Intel i3-4150 +h81/b85 mobo (which brand u prefer)
    Intel pentium anniversary + z87/z97 mobo (Mobo will be costly (buy the cheapest one) but trust me the price will be paid back )

    Whaaaat... AFAIK DX12 would reduce gpu bottleneck so for instance, an i3 would bottleneck an R9-280/GTX 760 much less.

    But FX-6300 can be overclocked unlike an i3.

    Edited post to somewhat prove my point. True that cpus will matter less, low end cpus will wont bottleneck gps much. At the same time DX12 will better utilize multi-cores unlike DX11 where having extra cores didn't help much.
