Lightbulb Suggestion for Buying LCD/LED Monitor

ok guyz its been a while that i am planning to buy a new Monitor and finally i have decided to buy it at the starting week of the december, hopefully..

I am using Samsung Syncmaster 591s since 2007, this is a CRT monitor. So I haven't actually experienced any LCD/LED monitor that much, infact i dont have a crystal clear idea on the features and facts that i need to focus while buying and LED/LCD. So i need help from u guyz. i need a thorough suggestion on buying an LED/LCD monitor from u people.

i am providing necessary infos and questions u need to know to make the Suggestion..

    • At first u guyz need to consider my Rig, which u can see under my username. consider my GPU, Processor etc stuffs.

    • My Budget is Maximum 10K
    • i am not really a Max out type of gamer. i am happy if a game runs smooth on my PC with medium graphics details.
    • i am not a big fan of huge size monitors. infact i would not go beyond 18.5", and could i be able to run most games atleast with Mid GFX details in 18.5"? what do u think?
    • LED or LCD? which one to choose?what is the big deal with the LEDs?
    • wide or square? i mean why the price of square monitors are high? what is the difference? more importantly which one is better for Gaming?
    • do the LCD's have any heat issue? like heating up if used for longer period of time, i m not sure about it, just asking as i heard it from my friend.
    • another major question, which brand to go for? for LED and for LCD..
    • and also consider facts like Response time, Contrast Ratio (is it the more, the better?) , viewing angle etc
    • and also take note of any other extra features, which are necessary

ok at the momment i have these, now guyz give me some advice, which monitor should i go for? give me some model name, and plz explain why you are recommending those.

Thanks in advance for your help..

P.S. atm i have these questions and facts to know, but i might gonna add some questions and facts later..

Default Re: Suggestion for Buying LCD/LED Monitor

Your rig is almost same as that of mine except for the ram and i can play most of the recent games in high settings. as you can see i am using a 20" LEd samsung before that i was using a 20" LCd samsung and i can easily see the color and contrast difference....LEd one has a lot better colour and contrast(I compared them side by side in my home)... So its upto u now to decide--

    The choices are----
    1. 18.5" LCD samsung B1930 5ms ---8300tk
    2. 18.5 LED samsung BX1950 5ms ---10200tk
    3. 20" LCD samsung B2030 5ms ------9600tk (used for 4months before buying the LED)
    4. 20" LED samsung BX2035 2ms -----12200tk (currently using this for last 4 dayz)

    Answers to the questions----

    1. Off course widescreen best for moviez and gaming....Square ones are good for office uses.
    2. LEDs have better colour depth and contrast.
    3. The screen may heat up slightly but its negligible.
    4. Response time matters in gaming the lesser the better.
    5. Contrast ratio the greater the better.

    Hope this helps...

he meant that if u buy the 18.5 ones which has a native resolution of 1366x768 then the game will look best in that resolution...

for example if u buy a hd monitor(native 1920x1080) and then play at 1366x768 or some other the game may not look good..

You will be easily able play old/new games in that settings. But if you upgrade your GPU you will be able to play in higher settings .

It has better contrast, takes less power, makes less heat.So why not LED .But AFAIK there is not that much of good LED monitors yet available in BD :S.

Wide wide wide .Wide is more enjoyable, comfortable in watching movies & more fun in playing games.Square monitors price is high because IMO those models are old ones & those are for office use. That's why maybe :S.So go for wide ones .

It would be best to choose monitor with 2m response & with higher contrasts, viewing angle (but sometimes it may vary between different brands),I have found a good link about this things, you may look at this - http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
