Thread: Comment on the build

    Default Comment on the build

    Hey guys,
Getting to the point, I'm getting a PC very quickly, probably within this month. Following is the build that I have chosen. Please share your reputed views. All the items are chosen in terms of Global as one of their particular payment method works in accordance to my convenience. So, I'm going to stick to that.
There's one more favor that I'm going to ask for. I've been disconnected from the marketplace so long that if anyone could voluntarily let me know the updated prices and availability of the items at Global, I would be really grateful.
    You can definitely suggest alternatives.
Oh yes, one more thing is that I'll be OC-ing lightly. That's why I'm going for the K series processor and will upgrade the cooler later.

    Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K 3.6GHz
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z97 MARK 2
    Ram: Adata XPG 16GB (8GB x2) DDR3 1866
    Storage: Adata 128GB XPG SX910
    GPU: Asus STRIX GTX970 4GB DDR5
Chassis: Cooler Master CM690 (Black & Green)
Cooling: 1. Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
    2. Cooler Master BC 120mm Green LED Case Fan(6 pieces)
    PSU: Cooler Master Thunder 700W

That PSU isn't reliable. Take some other one. Preferably Cooler Master v750.

That PSU is GOOD. But not good enough for that build.
Go for Cooler master V650 or V750.

And get a better SSD. That controller has Bad reputation. It would be good though. BUt you can find better

    I would prefer a 290X 4GB over a 970 3.5GB.

considering u take 970 u dont need 700 not good ish psu but u should look for a good 500w psu at the same time ......
if it happens u can save money by avoiding ssd .... try to spend that on gpu or some hdds will always be handy

Go for corsair rm series or other series of psu(i mean other brands).Cooler master psu aren't that much of reliable.

Also if your sole purpose is gaming, then buy hdd instead of ssd and cfx r9 290, gtx 970 3.5gb won't cut it higher resolution and a single 970/r9 290 isn't that good enough for max setting on all games. Gtx 980 is also a good option if you want to save some

yeah, right. Perfectly sensible to decrease other components' life-span.

Unfortunately he doesn't have any other option, 2x gtx 970 or 2x r9 290 will blow gtx 980 out of water. But i would prefer r9 290 due to 4gb vram.

Also he can go for a single gtx 980 if he wants.

You tend to presume a lot which isn't good. Cooler Master V series PSU are, in fact, more reliable than the Corsair RM series. He didn't mention anything about SLI or CF. He didn't even mention his monitor. How do you know what resolution he will be gaming at? :/

yeah, right. Perfectly sensible to decrease other components' life-span.

Go for Cooler master V650 or V750.

And get a better SSD. That controller has Bad reputation. It would be good though. BUt you can find better

    Guys,
Changing the GPU to GTX 980 raises my budget significantly. I'll be playing in a 1080p display; thus, going for the 970 instead of the 290x makes sense to me.
Global doesn't have any other SSD or PSU except Adata and Cooler Master respectively.
I already have a 1TB WD Cavier Blue; thus, the HDD isn't that big of a issue here.

I'm bumping the PSU to 750M. I can also make it Thermaltake Toughpower 750W from UCC, if I move there from Global. Please suggest me which one will be better.
Let me know about the build below:
    Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K
    Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600, may be Transcend since I'm moving to UCC.
    Storage: 128GB/256GB SSD, Transcend again
    GPU: MSI GTX 970 4GB DDR5
    Chassis: Thermaltake Versa H34
Cooling: Frio Extreme Silent 14, Thunderblade case fans
    PSU: Toughpower 750W

You don't need 750W PSU to run a single 970. Heck, even 450W is enough for your build. Getting a 550/600/650W PSU will save you some money. Look for cooler master V550/ Toughpower gold 650.

toughpower 650 gold will be more than enough for even OCing if u stick with 970. Don't know about the transcend memory and ssd though. never liked transcend in that segment very much. better go with twinmos/g.skill.

and do u have to buy everything from one place?

That PSU is a overkill, even if you OC. (CPU & GPU)
I almost have the same build with a decent overclock GPU and CPU , My PSU is Cooler master V550. (And it's more than enough, I even sold my V650S )
If you go extreme you might need 600W. BUt that's it. 750W for single 970 is overkill.

Cooler Master V/VSM series, Toughpower series of TT. Both are good PSU. Corsair RM is way more expensive.

RAM doesn't matter, get the cheapest RAM with decent latency.

But for SSD , anything with Sandforce controller (OLDer one ) is a curse. ADATA SP and XPG , Transcend (all of them) and Corsair Force all use this controller. Avoid them if possible. Get a samsung,PNY, Intel, crucial or corsair neutron SSD. (You can find them if you search a little, It will cost you slightly more).
