1. Boot from a Linux live CD/DVD or GPARTED live CD and use gparted to partition your HDD.
2. If that fails, backup all your data, delete all the partitions and partition it newly. Sometime that helps.
3. Plug it into another pc and partition from there.
You never fail until you give up...
You want to make a new partion out of that 100mb of unallocated space? I don't think the windows utility can make one out of free space.
Instead of trying to make another partition from that free space,
-right click "free space" and delete it
-then right click "G" and click extend volume to include the new 48gig unallocated space
-delete both 'free space' and 'G'(since G is empty, its alright)
-now create a new partition with the new 88gig unallocated space
Basically you need to turn the free space into unallocated space before making it into a usable partition
Not sure if the above options will work but I think it will, worth a shot)
Before double clicking COMPUTER MANAGEMENT icon, right click it and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and then try deleting it, if that doesn't work then right click "free space" and FORMAT it. That should turn it into unallocated space. If it works you should be able to partition it.
Strange that FORMAT option isn't available.
Next try to
-Download a good disk management software and try it with that. Search for them in 'download.cnet.com' or somewhere.
Dont worry too much if you run out of options. You can always format whole HD while reinstalling windows, but this is a last resort.
Ya its free space not unallocated space. That utility cannot separate free space from a drive for a new partition afaik. You need to use a more advanced program, try Partition Magic.
paragon hard disk manager is a good software..
i use it always..
