Default Where to buy good 2.1 desktop speakers in Dhaka?

    Hi all,
I was wondering if there's any shop in Dhaka where I can buy quality 2.1 desktop speaker system like Audioengine A5+ or Klipsch ProMedia etc (yeah not any of those creative or microlab bullshit). You can also mention if there's any company who imports stuffs like these from abroad for reasonable amount of money. I'm willing to consider any good deal for a decent system. TIA.

You could try these guys although Edifier is not as good as some of the other brands:

first decide what you need. 2.1 and stereo are not the same. if you want power stereo speakers then audioengine is worth paying. if you want passive speakers then cambridge audio, q acoustics, tannoy have some very good budget speakers provided that you have amp or dac to run them. budget means above 10k but in between 20k.

oops forget to add, your only option to buy good speakers in dhaka is to import by someone. i havent seen any retailers selling good speakers here.

dhaka te asholei bhalo speakers nai. Ki shob faltu computer based speakers ase.

If you can find audioengine, get it. I have A2 and it is great for computers but then you will need to buy a subwoofer also. A5 is more for TVs but I heard the bass is good enough that you dont need to buy subwoofer.

@codename5302 thanks for the clarification man. Actually what I'm looking for is a decent pair of sound system be it 2.1 or a simple pair of power stereos. I've got dragonfly USB DAC which I'm currently using with my logitech z623s and they sound really good but I'm giving those to my little brother and thinking of getting something better for myself.

I've come across to this link earlier today:
    https://www.facebook.com/multimediak...type=1&theater
They seem to ask 50K for A5. Don't you guys think that's too much? A5 (non bamboos) is $400 on Amazon. Anyway I think I'll call them to know more. @[email protected] from where did you get your A2s?

well you have to pay premium if you want extra ordinary things!! imo the price is quite ok. speakers are heavy and you have to pay huge shipping charge. then there is little tax and profit. and comparing price between amazon and a puny retailer is not fair at all. so when you try to compare look at price from some retailers not amazon.

i live outside. So cant comment on good speakers availability in dhaka. I didnt see any.

Honestly Logitech or Bose speakers are after all computer speakers like Creative or Altec Lansing. Yes they have good speakers but they are nowhere as good as bookshelf speakers like cambridge audio, Klipsch, audioengine or Wharfedale speakers.

That 50k price is a lot for A5. If you can, ask someone to bring it for you from outside. I will not recommend paying so much unless you have lots of cash.

how come 50k seems lot to you? it's price is 400 us dollar which translates to 32k. but it's weight is 25 pounds. now bring it through an import group then calculate. when i brought my logitech z5500 from uk, my purchase price was 200 pounds. but i paid 70 pound just for shipping.

Because in USA, we get free shipping on many stuffs. I got free shipping for my Audioengine A2 plus an additional 10% discount as there was a sale going on. I think I paid $180 for it. For me, it is like paying 18,000 extra for a 32,000 taka product. But yes it depends because for someone else, paying 50,000 wouldnt be a big deal and certainly A5 speakers are also quite good.

Nevermind guys I called them and that ad turned out to be fake They told me they can bring it for me from abroad but I'll receive it around June!!! (yeah I don't know what they were thinking when posting that). I also tried to look elsewhere but couldn't get any source from where I can buy any of those brands I mentioned earlier. I guess I'll get another logitech z623 or maybe even go for an altec unit this time. Altec Lansing MX6021 seems good. Thanks for your help

@DEXTER , if you REALLY want to buy good pair of speakers then i will suggest to save money and buy speakers later. for day to day use buy any cheap alternative. a pair of good speakers is a good investment. it will serve you for a long time.

btw where do you live in nikunja 2? i also live in that area.

Buy micro lab speaker instead. M109, M111, m223 is quite good within 2k. There is one Altek and Edifier 2.1 model too in that budget, but those are not good enough. Entry level models with poor bass.

@codename5302 I really wanted to get a good system but as you can see here... I tried searching but couldn't find any *sigh* 5.1 systems are way overkill for me. I only use speakers for music (can't manage time to play games these days). So a decent 2.1 would've been great. Oh and about the location, I haven't updated BG profile since I joined I live in Banani now. I'll probably go to IDB tomorrow do any of you happen to know where to buy altec speakers? (specific shop names will be great)

You can look into Superior Electronics and Speed Tech&Eng. for Altec Lansing products.
