Splinter Cell: Black List Features
Blacklist, takes place after Conviction in story chronology. Sam Fisher is the head of Fourth Echelon, and directly reports to the President of the United States. The primary mission of 4th Echelon, as assigned by the president, is to shutdown all current operations being conducted by Third Echelon and their agents. While conducting this primary mission, a group of 12 terrorists initiate a terror ultimatum called the Blacklist - a deadly countdown of escalating terrorist attacks on United States interests. Reason being, these 12 have had enough of the United States global military presence in two thirds of the countries around the world. In turn, Sam and his team must hunt down these terrorist by any means necessary, and stop the Blacklist countdown before it reaches zero. Splinter Cell Blacklist sees the return of Anna 'Grim' Grímsdóttir as well as the addition of new characters such as Isaac Briggs, and Charlie Cole.
New Features on Black List
- Play-Styles: There are three main play styles that will be featured in Blacklist. When you play in one of those styles, you earn XP for that style, which lets you unlock better gear. The plat-styles are:
- Ghost - The nonlethal, nondetected player. [Screenshot: Ghost play-style, Video: Ghost play-style]
- Panther - (Agro-stealth) who wants to be lethal but wants to "strike from the shadows.
- Assault - The combat player. You will be rewarded based on how well you dedicate yourself to whichever path you choose. [Video: Assault play-style]
- Difficulty: So far confirmed difficulty settings are-
- Perfectionist: In perfectionist difficulty-
- Enemies deny melee attacks from the front.
- One-shot one-kill against the player.
- Sam’s goggles don’t see through walls.
- Mark and Execute doesn’t work.
- Choice: Except for a few tutorials and certain story-driven moments that may take the decision out of player's hands, the player can get through the entire game without registering a kill.
- Killing In Motion: Blacklist got KIM "Killing In Motion" which enables the player to M&E on the move.
- Active Sprint: It enables the player with the push of a button to run or jump over obstacles and terrains in one swift and fluid animation.
- 4th Echelon Support: Sam can call support like Air Strikes, or ask Grim to take out the lights so he can sneak by, it is not scripted you can use it or not, it is totally optional and up to you.
- Tactical Cross Bow: it is kinda similar to the launcher function of the old SC-20K, it can be equipped with Electric Bolts & other bolts.
- Breaching: it seems SCB got new ways to breach doors, like Planting a Bomb which also enables the player to earn a M&E token.
- Economy System: SCB has an economy system that connects between SP, Co-Op, and MP, meaning you are earning money always and using it for customization, you can upgrade your plane, your goggles, your gear, your gadgets, your weapon, or your Adversarial Character, you need to be perfectionist with whatever style you play with to earn more money, for example if you are playing Assault then to earn more money you need to do more headshots or take out 3 guards with a grenade, you can use the money to buy boots that don't make any sound if you are playing stealthy, or if you are playing actiony you can buy bulletproof vests or packs to all you to carry more frag grenades.
- Sam's Suits: there are multiple suit, each corresponding to the play style, so it is different visually, like a Stealth Suit is more sleek.
- Sam's goggles: You can change the color of Sam's goggles. Confirmed colors are green and gold.
- Environment: Blacklist is going to have interior, exterior, nighttime, daylight, different weather – moments that are going to look amazing.
- The Plane (Paladin): After the intro finishes, you get handed the keys of your plane, Paladin. Your team is in there and that's a playable hub. You can walk around there, talk with different characters and get side-quests from them.
- SMI: At the center of the playable hub is the SMI – the Strategic Mission Interface. It is the in-game planning mechanism that allows you to plan out everything in the game, including your friends online, multiplayer, etc.

- Grim- You can purchase upgrades from Grim and take sidequests. Buying improvements from Grim gives Sam an advantage in the field, such as adding radar.
- Charlie- He is a hacker who helps with Sam’s gadgets.
- Isaac Briggs- New Splinter Cell agent, will support Sam on the field during solo campaign. Playable character in co-op.
- Victor Coste- Old Sam's friend
- Patricia Caldwell- President of the United States of America
- The Engineers- The bad guys in the story are called "The Engineers."
- Sadiq- Leader of the terrorist organization named "The Engineers"
- Andriy Kobin- Arms dealer, captured by Sam in Benghazi.
- Jadid- Former MI6 agent.
- Enemy Types:
- Dogs: Can sense you even if you aren't in line of sight, will bark and cause attention to other guards in the area.
- Snipers: extremely long distance enemy, you will notice them right away with their laser sight scanning back and forth. Most reports say that regardless of difficulty and armor combination, they will very likely one-shot kill you regardless.
- Heavies: Heavily armored enemies as the name suggests, they can take more punishment from gunfire, wear a helmet/gas mask (cannot be sleeping gas'ed directly) and cannot be melee'd from the front. One mark and execute against him will only remove his helmet and you must follow up somehow, whether it be a gunshot, melee, or your partner's mark and execute.
- Tech enemies: They actively jam your thermal/sonar vision modes from working unless taken out. They also seem to be as well geared as heavies. If alerted they will release remote controlled cars that search for you and explode.
Classic Features that back on Black List
- Abduction: it is similar to the corner grab of SCDA.
- Lethal and Non Lethal Takedowns: when you equip the knife then your takedown is lethal, when you un-equip it your takedown is non lethal. Active sprint does not include takedowns.
- Night Vision and Thermal Vision: They are back, the goggles can be upgraded in a cumulative, in the sense that you can overlay these things.
- Light & Shadow System: It is similar to SCDA, there is a light on Sam's back that lits when you are in shadows.
- Carrying Bodies: Sam regains the ability to carrying and hiding bodies. You can hide bodies either in dark corners or occasionally in containers. You cannot carry a body while crouched however.
- Repelling: Repelling is back. You can repel inverted.
- Dogs: they are back & more dangerous.
- Whistling: Whistling is back as well.

Features from Conviction that existed in Blacklist
- Last Known Position: Last Known Position is still in Blacklist. Enemies can remember your last position.
- Mark & Execute: You can still mark and execute enemies like in Conviction.
Features that excluded from Conviction
- Black & White Filter: The black and white filter from Conviction has been removed.
- Foul Language: The enemies no longer curse a lot. [speculation based on the AI behavior in the demo].

- Frag Grenade- Standard M67 Fragmentation Grenade.
- Incendiary Grenade: Explosion plus fire
- Sleeping gas grenade: Sleeping gas!
- Flashbang grenade: Flash! bang!
- Breach Charge- Capable of Breaching through Doors and Eliminating Hostiles on the other side.Remote Detonated.
- OPSAT-Real-Time Data Integration with Field Intel Collection,4TH Echelon Comms and the Onboard SMI Analytics Engine.
- Sonar Goggles-Cutting Edge Wideband Pulse Gear with Wall-Penetrating Capability.
- Sticky Camera: Can be upgraded to distract (clicker), release sleeping gas or detonate. Can be used to mark enemies. Might also be upgraded to fire sticky shockers.
- Sticky Noisemaker: Throwable noisemaker.
- Proximity Shocker: Throwable AOE shocker when there isn't water around to propagate a sticky shocker through multiple enemies.
- Tri-rotor drone: A small flying drone that operates like a sticky camera except instead of sleeping gas it fires sticky shockers. Can be seen and heard and destroyed.
- Spider-bot: Currently an iOS game and possibly a late-game gadget that probably replaces the sticky camera/operates similarly enough.
Co-op/Deniable Ops Features
- There are 14 distinct co-op missions that are completely different from the single player and SvM maps.
- Co-op maps were developed by Ubisoft Shanghai (SCPT, SCDA)
- Your co-op partner is Isaac Briggs, who plays exactly the same as Sam Fisher and has the same customization options.
- Co-op missions are given by Grim, Isaac Briggs, Charlie and Kobin with their own flavour to it.
- The majority of the missions will be narrative based and will feature a mix of play styles. These missions cannot be soloed.
- Grim's missions are very old school SC (ghost style), there are usually extreme restrictions such as no-kills or instant-fail upon detection
- Kobin's missions are more panther style, not much is revealed
- Charlie's missions are more assault style though they have confirmed they can still be ghosted, but (my note) the overall theme is probably more action-oriented
- With the exception of the Isaac Briggs missions, many levels can be soloed and can be repeated for points/money for customization.
- Devs don't want co-op to become a 'follow the leader' mentality where one player knows everything and does the majority of the work; greater emphasis on co-op moves to traverse environment or situations where players are asked/encouraged to split apart for periods of time to accomplish tasks.
- Mark and Execute no longer works the same in Conviction, you can only execute the targets you have marked. For enemies like the heavy that require two shots to kill will require some timing on behalf of both partners.
- There will be paths in some of the soloable maps that are inaccessible because they require co-op moves to access.

Spies Vs. Mercs Features
- Two versions with similar general map layouts but laid out similarly and lit differently depending on game mode.
- Original creator of SvM (Gunther Galipot) is back as director of SvM along with Ubisoft Montreal.
- Basic premise involves the spies (play in third person) hacking 3 terminals in any order, mercs (play in first person) have to prevent that, then teams switch.
- Apparent changes since PT/CT/DA SvM:
- Both sides have unlimited lives so spies trying to kill mercs and burn their lives no longer possible; have to hack instead.
- Hacks are now initiated on the spot, but wireless after it has started, so the spy can go off and try to hide. The area is cordoned off and the other nodes cannot be hacked simultaneously.
- The spy who initiates the hack has to stay within the area to finish it; if killed there is a small grace period where someone can continue the hack before it resets.
- Spies have a knife that can kill mercs up close, but usually difficult. They also have environmental attacks (ledge grabs, death from above) while most merc kills are either weapon-based and they have more humiliating melee finishers.
- When mercs are killed, they spectate based on security cameras in the level instead of on their teammates.
- Classic variation (2v2):
- Extremely light-and-shadow based, maps are lit appropriately that spies can blend or hide in the shadows, more claustrophobic feeling
- Mercs armed with flashlights, though apparently they can be turned off to hide and ambush spies as well.
- Spies do not have offensive guns (only a knife), carry only non-lethal weapons like shockers and gadgets; also armed with night vision goggles.
- Limited to no customization involved, at least with the economy system.
- Blacklist variation (4v4):
- Maps aren't lit as extremely as classic mode and the pace is a little faster with 8 players, slightly opened up with less dark shadows and layout.
- Both sides come with pre-set classes that have their own gadgets and abilities.
- Takes full advantage of customization with create-a-class slots unlocked fairly soon after playing, similar to SP where you can customize all body slots plus a special ability, total of twelve slots (6 each, 3 available and 3 unlockable)
- Weapon customization similar or on-par with what exists in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier gunsmith.
- Spies now can equip regular guns but mercs more armoured, better handling than spies with guns.
- Spy Presets:
- Intel Scout - tracks enemies
- Predator - stronger at CQC, has a digital camo suit that allows you go temporarily go invisible
- Saboteur - distrupt or take out enemy gadgets and equipment
- Merc Presets:
- Peacemaker - strongest merc with extra armour, adrenaline shots to boost stats
- Hunter - has drones that can be used to mark and track spies or detonate them
- Distruptor - can distrupt spies equipment and HUD
