Thread: How to bypass ISP throttling/shaping torrent downloads? (using smile dial-up connection)

Question How to bypass ISP throttling/shaping torrent downloads? (using smile dial-up connection)

So, I use 80 kbps connection (because I always download stuff through torrenting) and all my Vuze downloads are forced to stay around 10 kB/s (80 kbps). And it is very disturbing, as I am used to get download speeds like 200-300 kB/s. Except for encrypting and changing to a new ISP, is there any such thing that I can do to solve this problem?

Yes, that's the very problem I am talkin' about. If I ain't getting better speed by downloading torrent files, there is no reason to dl torrents. Then I should rather buy more expensive net connection, but I do not want to waste money on such a puny matter.

If you're not still sure about my question, I can elaborate. I want to trick my ISP i.e. make sure that my ISP doesn't see or think that I'm downloading through Vuze.

exactly kon site theke torrents namano hoy ? Daruchini ?

I find Vuze complicated though it is a good client. did u try utorrent ?

    ---------- Post added at 12:30 ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 ----------

also if u r downloading from internet torrent sites such as pirate bay, then u wont get higher than 80kbps unless there is a local seed.

Ami bhujhlaam na wat u meant by saying
If I ain't getting better speed by downloading torrent files, there is no reason to dl torrents.

From some well-known private and public trackers (e.g. bakabt, piratebay). And no, not from Daruchini.

Yes, I've tried utorrent too, but no luck. I am sure it has nothing to do with trackers. But I didn't understand what you are trying to mean by saying 'local seed'?

Local seed means someone in bd is seeding the file you are downloading.

I dont think that you can get more than 10kbps speed from those foreign torrent sites as you need internet speed and in ur case, its 10kbps.

Try to download torrents from local sites and maybe you'll get more speed.
Also increase ur upload speed if you capped it.

Edit : You can try this trick :

How To Get Your Maxspeed (uTorrent)

Torrent Client - Preferences - Bandwidth - Number of connections - Set aprox. 500 for each
Torrent Client - Preferences - BiTorrent - Protocol Encryption - Forced
Bandwidth Allocation - High (Set download/upload limit - Unlimited)
Stop Other Active Torrents - Start downloading and wait for connections.

I heard that there's a booster for uTorrent that speeds up torrent downloads, i don't know whether it's true or not.
    @Topic Author:
I strongly suggest you to download from hot favourite torrent sites like Demonoid, IPTorrents etc. Cause those torrents available on those sites are always seeded by uploaders and you'll get your HTTP download speed.

last line tai wrong. I dont know how u got this. Torrent theke bhalo speed na pai mane ki. Torrent theke speed jeta ashe sheta hocche normal internet speed. Ultimately u r downloading from remote computers connected through internet. How do u expect the speed to be much higher than ur internet connection speed ??????

Suppose u r downloading a torrent from seeds located in Russia and USA. How do u expect ur speed to be more than ur 80 kbps internet speed if u download torrents from them ????

Only local seed der khetre speed beshi pawa jai. And taio jodi ISP support kore. For example, bdcom and smile users can download from each other via daruchini at gud speeds because they are local users (same isp) and also the isp allows them to use local network bandwidth for high speed sharing.

That's wrong. That alone is enough to kill his small 10KB/s download pipeline, due to the sheer volume of connection attempts. My gbit dedi has issues handling more than 800~ connections actively at any point of time. < 100 is the safe point to stay at to max out your home connection, in this country. Hell, you don't even need that much.

Yes, I've tried utorrent too, but no luck. I am sure it has nothing to do with trackers. But I didn't understand what you are trying to mean by saying 'local seed'?

ami bojhate chacchi j, jodi ami torrent e valo speed na pai tahole torrent dl korar kono mane hoy na 'cause ami technically setar jonnoi torrent dl korchi.

It's normal that you didn't get me. When I used APCL connection (10KB/s connection), I could get 300 kB/s as torrent downloading speed and I could use TOR browser. Now do you get it? But I had to change my home address so, I can't use it anymore.

And thanks to others for the useful information.

If you were getting that speed from foreign trackers, it was a glitch. Foolishness from APCL's part. They don't know how to configure their ISP.
(un)fortunately, no well known ISP are that much stupid.
