Thread: Severe internet slowdown!

    Angry Severe internet slowdown!

Anyone from Smile/BDCom experiencing severe slowdown for last three days(16,17,18)?
I am getting on average ~10KB/s(my subscription is 1.5Mbps/180KB/s)
for last three days on all downloads and slow browsing.

Their support told me that there is a fiber cutoff near England,
hence all BDIX member ISPs in Bangladesh are suffering slowdown.
They also informed me that this will most likely continue till Feb 1st/2nd!
They told me that the fiber cutoff is in the newspaper, but I failed to find it anywhere.

Now, I don't know anyone from other BDIX ISPs, but most of my friends(from mirpur,
dhanmondi, nikunjo) informed me that their internet is fine and calling a friend of mine
using Banglalion(member of BDIX) told me that he temporarily suffered slowdown but
    thing are fine.

This is really painful when I pay a premium price and have to use a dead internet for half of
    the billing cycle.

Anyone else from Smile/BDCom/ISPro or BDIX ISPs please confirm.

Not a smile user but your ISP is right, fiber cable was cut and will take time for repair.

I can confirm your experience as a user of Mazeda. It was like this on Saturday and Sunday, but _some_ speed has returned today. Although I didn't ask anyone why, I have a script that pings important locations around the world and determines bottlenecks, so I knew the bottleneck was not my regional or national ISP.

    Dear Concern,
Please be informed that as per latest update from SMW4 MNOC, the fault location was measured by Mumbai CLS & Chennai CLS is 42 Kms from Mumbai & 3276 Kms from Chennai. The problem occurred due to 4th Laser Diode failure on Mumbai 1st repeater (F-114R) which was already having 3LD pump fail. Unfortunately, still no ETR is available.
As per latest update from IMEWE , Ship will reach to the fault location tentatively on Feb 1st week to restore IMEWE Cable system fault.
We will keep you updated about the progress.
    With Regards,
    Mango Support Team

Sure, but I'll just have to find some time to clean it up and look for alternative servers. It's tied to my system so won't work out-of-the-box, and the servers are not public addresses.

    Anyway, speeds look alright now.

Called my ISP about the packet losses i was facing during gaming earlier, they basically switched my network i think to a different routing cause man speed is ¤¤¤¤. BDIX and FTP is probably off, also ping increased a little bit without the packet losses.
