    anadtech.....

Not that interesting....i think they should have released this instead of GTX480......but still a 5970 or a pair of 6870 beats it....i dont think it will e faster than 6990....and may be on par with 6970...

6990 will just bury this card...but still it good to see that nVIdia is back in the game...now some price cuts from AMD will be sweet...

Graet job. Lower power (interesting choice of transistors, didnt foresee that one), 15 - 20% higher performance than 480, lower noise, slightly better overclocking too.

Problems include extremely limited availability and still relatively high power consumption. The upcoming Caymans should spark a price war

I was wondering why no1 has posted this yet.

Newyz, nt a bad card, but it will require better prices and availibility for this to sell well.

@Mazhar , are u sure abt the power consumption being lower? Bcz im sure that i read them as being a lit more power-hungry than the 480s.

"The one downside we measured was an increase power consumption, slightly higher than ther GTX 480." - This is what Hilbert @ G3D said. But he also mentioned that the engineering sample which they received had an older BIOS which could 've resulted into unnecessary power consumption.

So i guess, that it was the bios that was responsible.

well rumour says the hd 6970 will be 20% faster than the hd 5870..... so it gtx 580 will still be faster than hd 6970 and hd 6990 probably will be a dual gpu..... reviews said the price of hd 5970 2gb was around $ 630 3days ago. But it drops to $ 500 2days ago... While nvidia priced their gtx 580 at $500. So what we have to see is how much nvidia drops their price soon. it will be great if they make it like $400-450 (my opinion)

Well, i know the specs and trust me its seems more than a 20% boost. IMO, it should be trading blows with the GTX580, but we'll see.

Secondly, the launch date is December 13th so Nvidia have a few weeks head start with the GTX580. Expect price drops after the 13th

Finally, both the HD 5970 and GTX580 are $500, but the GTX580 is a better buy

it is not a lot less power consumption-a bit.beside,6850cf is even better or equal to 580.it is cool than 480 bcoz it has a vapor cooler in stock!!even hd5970 is cooled with normal cooler.its die shrinked oonnlyy 9mmsq(from529 to 520mmsq).does these worth changing 2 a next generation series.

its not a next gen gpu. keepler n maxwell will be next gen gpu from nvidia. n it require a lot less in terms of performance compared to gtx 480. correct me if im wrong. n whats up with vapor chamber? i think whatever the cooling solution is, its ok. orelse cooling solution kan banailo? lol. lets just hope for a price drops. it will be awesome to see a price drop of gtx 580 soon.

and one more thing please dont be biased. we know how the gtx 480 was. n we teased because that gpu deserved. but now those who are talking against gtx 580, seems to be fan boys or prefers ati always. so biased thinking na korlei valo. dnt get me wrong. im talking friendly.

You got him wrong. He said the GTX580 has a vapor chamber cooler as stock cooler, hence its much cooler. And hes right. In terms of power consumption the GTX480 and GTX580 are not that different

Edit: also keep in mind that actual power consumption (not TDP) goes down if the chip is cooler. Not many people realise this. The GTX580's cooler temperatures also contribute to the power savings.

no offense, but i saying don't get influenced by biased benchmarks please.again i am saying, 580 doesn't draw a lot less power than 480-it is a bit.and im saying next gen. naming not next gen. card, man.as they do not worth next gen. naming.n,as stock vapor chamber is used so nvidia having trouble with temp. with their high gpus.after all, 580 is is a good card with vap. cooler, adaptive fan control but not a good G.P.U.and,i m not a fan of amd but i like them bcoz they r underdog-they keep nvidia price to d limit. In my previous i said nothing biased.i said d truth.
