isnt it obvious? psp2 is ofcourse a better option than psp, but if u r not upto waiting and as psp2 would be umd less, so the modding scene can take a while to kick off, though am not entirely sure, so it totally depends on u. personally i think buy iphone or android phone to satisfy ur handheld gaming needs, i mean seriously handheld games should be quick and easy, and u should be able to play those when ur bored or waiting somewhere, so psp isnt such a convenient device to carry around, but then again its just my opinion, do whatever suits u best.

Default Re: Should i buy a PSP or wait for PSP 2

    A few points i should've added up b4---
1- Time is a factor for me, as i dont know when PSP2 is gonna come out & get modded. If it takes more than a yr from now, then i think waiting for that would b futile, cos i cant dalay it that much. But if it comes out (& gets modded) b4 June, then waiting would b worth it. So, does anybody know atleast when it might release?
2- Is PSP a troublemaker??? Does it frequently givs trouble? & which model is the best till now???
3- Also, when PSP2 comes, will new games for PSP wont b made??

Depending upon these questions, i m gonna take a decision.
Also, if any PSP user givs his opinion about the device, i would b gr8ful. TQ

Bro, those things (with a proper GPU) is gonna price a lott, n i m not gonna get a new phone anytime sooner. Anyways, thnx for the suggestion

I was hopin u would reply Prottoy. & wat u say is true, i just checked various sites. Sony didnt even confirm about PSP 2. So, that means its better to go with PSP than waiting for sth thts existing as a rumor. & even if it comes out, who can say if it doesnt take 5 yrs to mod that1? & as for games, PS2 games r still coming even though its been half a decade since PS3 came out.

So 1 more thing, if i buy a PSP, which 1 should i go for???

Thats a problem now, you can get any model except a PSPGo, but the problem is higher firmware PSPs are not moddable. Anything above firmware 5.50, and you're screwed, no way to downgrade. There has been proof of hacks in 6.30 though, but no public release.

    ---------- Post added at 00:43 ---------- Previous post was at 00:42 ----------

I should also mention that the safest way to ensure a moddable PSP is getting a 2ndhand one which is already modded. There's no telling what firmware a new PSP might come with.

Get a PSP-1006.Even if you update it above 5.50,you can undo what you have done.YOU WILL NOT BE SCREWED.Just take it to basundhara, they will charge 500TK for downgrade.

Can i mod(both upgrade n downgrade) the PSP myself??? I thought the stuff was pretty easy. Also, how much does the 1006 cost? Also, what about it's (1006) quality? I mean to say, does it giv frequent problems??

If you have a pandora battery, then you can.I cant tell you how, google it.I didnot mod my psp myself.
And ya it may show problem with control,if it is second hand model.Just change casing for 1200TK in rifles square(electronic and musium shop).I also recommend you to buy psp from this shop.and you will ok for a long time without any controller problem. If you can manage original psp-1006(those for which casing hasnt been changed),then you will notice no problem.

I'd recommend the FIRST Slim instead. Those are fully moddable using pandora battery and has an 64MB RAM, PSP1000 has 32MB and yes the difference is very much noticable.

I believe even newer PSP 2000s had an ungraded MOBO and required hacking the same way as you hacked PSP3000s. Mine is the first generation of the Slims and is as moddable as the PSP 1000.

Technically, the 3000 has a better display and a built in mic, thats all I guess.

hmm, i called a shop(known) who said that currently PSP 2000 is out of market n the new 3000 is not modable. A few 2000s r gonna b coming, n also 3000s, bt i think they also are gonna b modded like 3000s. So, is psp 3000 a safe buy, if modded??

    aayman_farzand,
are you sure that psp-2000 models are fully moddable using pandora? For fully I mean "you can do just anything;even if you update it to 6.31 then again u can downgrade to 5.5GEN D3"

When I bought PSP, shopkeeper of "gamesworld"@basundhara said to me that, with psp-2000 you can play any modded games and mod is permanent. But he also said that it is not "update-proof";meaning you cannot update to >5.5.If you do once, you are screwed. You can not farther downgrade."

But for psp-1000, you can update-downgrade to any firmware you want.Actually I use my psp for software and media uses.I play game rarely. And I also use psp in my wi-fi network. So there is a very chance to update when i use a vast collection of software. So I choose psp-1000.

In market,ya psp-2000 is very rare.and high priced. Some bustard told me for 22000TK,Ki voionkor!!!

The initial slims were as moddable as PSP 1000s, mine is one of those, I can upgrade to any firmware I want and then downgrade again using pandora. The new 2000s (not 3000s) come with new motherboards and their mods are the same as PSP 3000s.

After seeing both 1006 & 3000 psp's, i m not gonna go for a psp 1006. Only prob is, new psp 3000 modded is pretty difficult to find & is higher priced. Still, if i am getting 1, i m buying the 3000
