Thread: <must see> Quad NVIDIA GTX 480 rig (master SLI)

Cool <must see> Quad NVIDIA GTX 480 rig (master SLI)

One NVIDIA GTX 480 graphics card is potent; two are impressive and three, in SLI setup, is probably overkill for all but the most avid (and deep pocketed) of gamers. So, what do you call four GTX 480 boards in a single machine? CyberPower Inc. have apparently been experimenting with the EVGA GTX 480, showing a new quad-card rig on their Facebook page.

There isn’t much in the way of detail beyond the photos themselves, but the setup is based on an EVGA X58 Classified 4-way SLI motherboard. The $499 ‘board has a full seven PCIe x16/x8 slots and will take up to four of the company’s GTX 400-series video cards.

Ok, no need to create another NVIDIA vs. ATI war. NVIDIA is the king, in everything (except one thing)... happy now ? :\
That includes price (at the first place ), bribed money (at the second place ), performance, power consumption, heat reduction, tessellation...

But, one thing which isn't in NVIDIA's side - and that is - price : performance ratio.

¤ So a 4x crossfire of 5870s is not a waste of money? You seriously think anyone capable of getting such a system gives a rats ¤¤¤ about price: performance ratio? Those people, all they want is horsepower, not value.

I'm not a fanboy, just appreciating whats there.

Suppose, I want this level of power. Then I'd have gone for 4x 5870 (+1 physx card maybe). Really.
Because, u can't really run GTX 480 in BD... it creates that much heat...

    Btw, u really r a fanboy... lol

How is that similar in performance? A single 480 is better than a 5870 (before you say anything, its in terms of performance only). Furthermore nVis always scale better in SLi, than AMD's CFX from what I read so far.

And heat? 4ta GPU lagaba ar heat niye kisher chinta. Seriously, anyone considering such a setup will have no problem getting watercooling.

A 1200W CM is not the perfect choice to power that system.

    I totally agree with that.

Rion, this is not in BD. And GTX480 is hot, true, but the saying that u can 't run it in BD is nonsense. I have 2 friends using them. Power Gamer 's cousin is one 'f them. And multiple 480 's does make sense if u can handle the heat, becuase they scale just as good as the 5870 does not. 5870 X 3/4 is an ill combination. And the ppl who have set that rig up is surely not counting for ne1 's approval/POV. They have stuff to show off and it 's their right to do so.

BTW, Rion, don 't take it othrwise. I didn 't mean nething against you. I am just pointing out the reasons to urge for this setup.
