Thread: Need suggestion for purchasing a phone.

  1. #1

Default Need suggestion for purchasing a phone.

I want to purchase a smartphone and my budget is 10K- 15K. I initially selected Samsung Galaxy Core 2 but I read too many negative reviews about this phone and I didnít like its specification that much, so Iíve discarded this one. Anyway I found two other phones that fit my budget as well as having decent specification (at least for me) which are Asus Zenfone 5 and LG L70. But Iíve read mixed reviews from the users for both and Iíve seen none using any of these two models. So Iím a bit confused here. Can anyone of you give me suggestion regarding this? Also you can recommend any phone within my budget (Iím requesting not to suggest any Walton, Symphony or other Chinese brands).

Unless you can buy a Micromax Yureka (made in collaboration with Cyanogen), definitely you should grab a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.

Micromax Yureka has much better CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 -- 1.5 GHz Octa Core) and GPU (Adreno 405) processing power than that of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G. And you'll get it with stock CyanogenMod 11 OS based on Android 4.4 Kitkat at a lower price.

I think a secondhand Lumia 920 should be available in that price range (may be add 2/3k). That'd really be the best imo.

If you're the person not really up for multi-threading apps at the same time, you could try the new Nokia X2. It's much improved and better than the crappy Nokia X which i got somehow and waiting to sell.

Btw is the Moto G getting a price cut after fiscal end of this year? am seriously looking forward to buying it

@infilTra8or, Aasifz: Although I'm not interested on Chinese brands but the one you've suggested seems to have quite an impression among the users so I'll keep your advice in my mind. Do you own or have ever used Redmi Note 4G?

@RMS: Aren't Micromax smartphones just re-branded versions of Gionee Elife phones? Although I don't know about the Eureka one that you've suggested.

@Crophsroth: I saw the advertisement of Android One in the newspaper but I'm not quite interested on it.

    - - - Updated - - -

@VANGUARD: I'm not interested on secondhand phones, the Nokia Lumia 535 seems awesome and the price is also quite good. I don't know about others but one of my friends already bought this phone and he told me that the phone is excellent except for the fact that he is experiencing some touch problems with the phone and he will RMA it. Let's see what happens.

@CvP, GLaDOS, newgamer: Not interested on secondhand phones. But thanks for the inputs.

@Trave160: I've seen Nokia phones with Android OS are quite different than the other phones with the same OS. Can I use android apps on Nokia X2 same as I'd use them on other android devices?

I don't know whether there will be any price cut for Moto G 2014 or not, but do you know anything regarding this? I'd buy it even if its price was around 17K, but unfortunately the price tag is still 20K. A very good phone from Motorola.

Micromax purchases (in other word, re-brands) its smartphones from a Chinese OEM and adds their software. Rebranding is Selling already manufactured product under New name. This is how OEM works and this doesn't mean copying or cheating. Buying from one place and selling it at another place IS called trading - the simplest way of doing business. Rebranding is a smart way to do business and providing extremely high configured phones at extremely cheap price.

I seriously don't have any problem with OEM if they are able to provide the service they committed.

Micromax Yu Yureka smartphone is a rebranded Coolpad F2 4G. While you may not be familiar with Coolpad, the Chinese company is the sixth-largest smartphone maker in the world, a reach on par with Sony. Only Lenovo and Xiaomi make more smartphones for Chinese customers. Micromax made a contract with Cyanogen Inc., bought Coolpad F2 4G, installed CyanogenMod 11 OS (based on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat; an Android 5 Lolipop upgrade is promised) and introduced it as Yu Yureka under a new brand named Yu (this is just a business strategy previously followed by Lava Inc., the original maker of Xolo smartphones). Thus the OS on YU completely resembles with OnePlus One. CyanogenMod 11 OS provides better looks, functionality, customizations and control than stock android and even well renowned MIUI 5 OS (used by Xiaomi phones). It has twice the CPU and GPU processing power than Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and at a lower price.

Trust me, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is an extremely good looking phone. To me it looks even better than OnePlus One, which is well appreciated for its good looks among smartphone enthusiasts. Unless your friends already have Xiaomi Redmi Note / Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, you can go to the main office of GG7 at Basundhara and feel its beauty.

Both of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G or Micromax Yu Yureka is a great buy within a budget under 23000 BDT. I don't see any point of buying a Moto G at 20K when you can buy a Nexus 5 at 24K.

^ Sorry, I didn't read you post properly. If you are just brand conscious other than performance and efficiency, just get a Nokia Lumia 535 or Moto E, which are also good phones.

    - - - Updated - - -

As far as I remember, Walton Primo X2 was a re-branded version of Gionee Elife E6 and Walton Primo X3 was a re-branded version of Gionee Elife S5.5.

As far as I remember, Walton Primo X2 was a re-branded version of Gionee Elife E6 and Walton Primo X3 was a re-branded version of Gionee Elife S5.5.
Bhaiya where can I get the Nexus 5 for 24k?

Yesterday one of my friends said that Robi is offering Nexus 5 16GB under 25K.

Just go to bashundhara city shops and haggle a bit, you may get a Nexus 5 even at 23K.

Let's see what happens.
RMA will not fix that issue. Microsoft announced an OTA fix has been started to roll out to fix that issue. Nevertheless, you can buy that.
