We're pretty stoked at the promise of dual-core ARM Cortex A9 mobile devices based on the Nvidia Tegra 2 and eventually the Samsung Orion – both should feature performance that'll make today's fastest smartphones seem a little slow.
ARM today announced the Cortex A15 MPCore processor that promises to deliver a 5x performance improvement over today's advanced smartphone processors, within a comparable energy footprint. The Cortex-A15 processor has the projected headroom to run at up to 2.5GHz and is targeted at manufacture in 32nm, 28nm, with a roadmap extending to 20nm.
The Cortex-A15 extends the capabilities of the ARM Cortex-A Series by adding hardware support for OS virtualization, soft-error recovery, larger memory addressability and system coherency. The A15 also features full application compatibility with all of the other current Cortex-A processors, which means "Android™, Adobe® Flash® Player, Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE), JavaFX, Linux, Microsoft® Windows® Embedded Compact 7, Symbian® and Ubuntu, along with more than 700 ARM Connected Community members" are supported in the design.
The only bad part of this announcement is that we probably won't be seeing products based on this chip ship until late 2012 or early 2013.
That sort of far-off time frame should give the Cortex A9 time to stretch its legs and gain as much popularity as the Cortex A8 has in smartphones.

Ai chip Dia Korbo ki .

Along with time shall come the need for more processing power in mobile applications.

With revolutionary platforms like Android and Win 7, there seems to be a lot more possible in a mobile phone that it was in the past. If you look back at mid '09, a Hero based on Android 1.5 powered by a 528MHz processor was an Evolution in the mobile phone world, but from Q2 '10 onwards its even hard to imagine a smartphone without a 1Ghz Snapdragon/Hummingbird. The maturity of platforms and their respective applications shall grow with time, but along with it shall come the responsibility of providing enough horsepower to drive them properly. For example, Metro 2033 was not meant to be driven in win' 98 with an 8600GT. As with computers, in mobile phones too the display resolution is the prime factor that requires necessary hardware changes to take advantage of it.

But yes, the changes have to happen gradually. It 's not like the Quad-core is going to be launched next month. With flagships like the Desire HD, SGS and Iphone 4 being powerd by single core processors there still seems to be a lot of time left before we are actually going to need/utilize a dual-core. Even the apps and platform bases will require a re-construction to take full advantage of multi-core processors.

We will probably be seeing slight modifications or even similar competition of the Hummingbird architecture b4 the dual cores surface.
