I think the best solution is to jump off a cliff.

On a more serious note, I think your hard disk's gone for good. You might as well try using a spare/new one and see if that fixes it.

Default Re: Virus !!!!! What to do?

This is no new problem brother. I have been using PC since 1999 and this i7 is my fifth PC in a row. Back then, we had to use Windows 98 when people could only think of Dr. Solomon and McAfee 2.0 as the only security softwares. PC bootup took 45 seconds without any antivirus installed and using only 64MB of RAM. The moment you placed an antivirus between you and that PC, the whole process slowed down to at least two minutes.

A lot of things have changed since then. Processors lost weight. They converted from slot processors to pin processors and now to pinless ones. They gained more cores and more cache. Windows versions increased to utilize the hardware boot process got longer due to more drivers. At the same time the operating mechanism of Windows also improved to reduce the increased boot times.

Antivirus-es also upgraded. Competition rose and that gave rise to lot of brands. Virus tracking and removing mechanisms of Antivirus-es evolved along with their operating performance too but there is one thing no good antivirus was able to achieve even today and that is : seamless integration with Windows. No matter how latest rig you got, there will be always some performance degradation, even if it is minimal. Maybe on a Raid 0 PC, the performance is less noticeable but it is nevertheless noticeable to a certain degree.

So, in this virus-bot-spyware ridden internet world, there is no alternative to an antivirus, unless you are an expert user. I used my last PC without any antivirus. I used Alt+Shift when inserting pendrive, to skip autorun viruses. I selected "Show hidden files and folders" and unchecked "Hide Protected Operating System Files" from folder options. Then I used Run to browse the pendrive and if I found any autorun files, any hidden or suspicious files, or any files that I did not put in my pendrive, I simply deleted them. Next, I had to be really cautious from where I downloaded apps from. If it was a small file, I got it checked from virustotal.com. In overall, I had to be really careful.

Default Re: Virus !!!!! What to do?

There is something wrong. I mean some softwares or drivers you're using might problemetic. As you've said you're having this problem for 5 years and you're hardware seems to be very recent so I assume there might be some problems with your software selection.

Keep in mind that the best security is your common seance. You can prevent most of the virus infections just by being a little cautious. Try to understand what you're doing before doing it. Try to avoid cracked softwares if there's a free alternative. Nowadays I think most of the software needs of an average can fulfilled with free and open source alternatives (except games of course). In free softwares you don't have to mess with cracks which is the primary source virus today and you can update or upgrade easily.

Try to download your stuff from trusted sites. Switch to Firefox, Chrome etc. and use an ad-blocker and script-blocker (not a must but handy).

Windows 7 offers 3 layers of protection.

    1. Antivirus
    2. Windows Defender
    3. User Account Control

So it is very hard to get infected by virus. Update Windows and your antivirus regularly. Use a free antivirus. Using cracked antivirus is somewhat risky. It's for them who have a clear idea what they are doing, not for everyone.

Be careful with pendrives. Scan them before opening.

As I've said your software selection there might be a software that's not working well. Maybe you're using an old software that's not working well with Windows 7. keep in mind that Windows 7 is a very modern operating system. To get the best out of it you should have latest drivers and softwares. Get the 64 bit versions of softwares if available.

And finally, I would say try duel booting Ubuntu and use it for your non-gaming needs. If your problems continues then there might be problem with your hardware.

    Sorry for my long post.

Sorry for my long post.
