I mentioned about this months ago. Sad day for consumers.

There will be no point to buy IT products from BD with higher prices then, specially if you have easy access to foreign products.

1 year a emniteo product er kicui hoi na jodi na kopal khub kharap thake.

    People, people, calm your titties.

This is just a scheme or scam by the BCS authority to make a few quick bucks from the importers. It does mention that in order to provide warranty services further than the stated one year period, they have to get this acknowledgement from BCS authority, which most importers will look forward to. There is no reason for the consumers to be alarmed.

so, basically what u r saying is they are going to do this for consumer favor ? really ? tell me one single example of any IT product distributor company in BD that has done anything in favor of consumer . i bet they will do nothing & retailer always tries to avoid warranty claim situations. this will make their work a lot of easier. i am done buying electronics products from BD long ago. & this just made sure that it will remain in that way for a very very long time.

There is no reason for the consumers to be alarmed.
bro you do have a point, but here is a scenario for you...

if you remember 2006/2007, bd govt ruled that no cell phone companies can provide free phone call during night time 12am to 8am. bd cell companies used to provide free call service in nighttime in that period (after 2004). you could make phone calls free of charges using gp djuice/citicell/aktel and other service providers in that period. but the next couple of years after the law passed, you couldnt make free calls during night.
when bd govt passed that law, if i remember correctly no cell companies declared "okay 0tk per minute is not possible so what? we will still provide .05tk or .10tk per minute". no they didnt do that, they just priced the off peak rate back to high/super high.... 4tk per minute/5tk per minute.

thats the thing.... there is a reason why i am an anti government guy, not just anti AL govt or anti BNP govt... just anti-government. because the way i see it, governments just help thieves/corporations to steal things and get away with it. it's not just Bangladesh it's with every govt in every country. this type of things happens more in bangladesh because we are the champions in corruption- almost double hattrick.

now if i remember vokta odhikar ain... consumer protection law, which was passed in BD, you cant sue a shopkeeper who sold a medicine or a product which caused your son to die in your hands (just imagine). they claimed- just because a shopkeeper kept something doesnt mean he have to vouch for it. i am still not 100% sure what happens if the shopkeeper keeps a non brand product/food or medicine.

this kind of things can happen here too. bd distributors can now refer to this law and say "we didn't got the permission to provide extended warranty yet."

maybe at the beginning they will do this until one of them says f this we are going to provide 3 years warranty like before, then others have to provide full warranty too just to compete.

in other countries- hope for the best expect the least.
in BD- expect the least and hope for the least.

btw... already gigabyte graphics cards have only 1 year replacement warranty, i recently came to know that another famous company's product have only 1 year replacement warranty now... damn i forgot the name

I may be wrong but I think importers like CSL, Smart, Global etc. are the main mastermind behind this. It'll be great and profitable for them to provide only 1 year warranty to the consumers. After the warranty period if the product dies they won't provide any support. So,we will have to buy again from them. More sale , more profit.
But this is only a possibility.............

This is just a scheme or scam by the BCS authority to make a few quick bucks from the importers. It does mention that in order to provide warranty services further than the stated one year period, they have to get this acknowledgement from BCS authority, which most importers will look forward to. There is no reason for the consumers to be alarmed.
I can't think of any distributor other than Computer Source doing that., and I'm not sure about computer source either. Global, UCC etc already gives shorter than international warranty for most of their products.

Can anyone answer some of my questions ?
How can the importer or any other authority limit the warranty period ? Do they have any right to do that ? The manufacturers include their warranty service cost along with the product price. So, we are paying to get warranty.Like Corsair is giving minimum 2 years of warranty for all of their products that's why corsair's product are high priced. Then how can BCS limit that warranty to 1 Year ?
