OP, is your PC Chassis well ventilated? Cards like these need a good airflow inside the chassis to prevent overheating.

hey, i said dual GPU!! didn't say crossX or SLI!! 1st of all 4870X2 & 2X4870 with crossX is not same thing. zzzz

    ---------- Post added at 23:18 ---------- Previous post was at 22:38 ----------

BTW, i am using HD4890. & it's full load temp is 72c. then tell me, if ATI cards consume too much less power than NVIDIA(except GTX470,480!! ), then why my card produce that much heat?? & it's a single GPU!!

Contrary to popular belief, opening the side panel of your chassis actually ruins the air flow as it's meant to be a closed system. Anyway, I hope you don't run it open 24/7, would hate to clean that much dust...

About your cards, check the fan profile for it, try to manually adjust it to higher speeds. I think MSI Afterburner lets you create custom fan profiles (I'm not entirely sure cuz I only used RivaTuner). If that doesn't work I think dust has accumulated inside your card. I'm not sure how to go about cleaning your card since it's a sandwich cooler which is nearly impossible to dismantle and put together again.

How long have you had the card? And also please mention your chassis fan setup (intake + exhaust).

I tried to increase fan speed with default driver given by MSI(MSI afterbutner and Dual core center). But the option of the fan speed was not working. May be this is a problem with the MSI tools because when the GPU temperature is increasing the fan speed isn't increasing. Then I used rivatuner and set fan to 100% and now in normal GPU temp is 56 and when I run Crysis warhead then it is 78-82. Is it ok for 9800gx2?

Yes, the temps are fine. Although I'd recommend against running the fan @ 100%.

Use rivatuner to create a custom fan profile, increasing fan speeds for higher temps. That should do the trick.

It should work. If it doesn't, then try EVGA Precision. They are almost the same. And is pretty much guaranteed to work on Nvidia cards.
