HD4890 got 2 6-pin power connector. well the PSU requirement is not depended on how many 6/8 pin connector it has. the wattage is the main fact. that's y we always got xtra power connector with our GPU. well, TT TR2 500W also got a 6-pin power connector.

@ATOTAYI, yes off course TT420w can handle HD4890. you can go for it without any qus. btw, the price of TT420w & asus 500W is almost same. so, if u find asus 500W then go for it.

sapphire 4890 1gb version use 340 watt at full load and 214 watt at idle while a radeon 4870 1gb uses 331 watt at full load and 320 at idle.
i am using a tr 420w for my Q8200 ati hd4870 and 2 hdd for nearly one year. so i think there is no problem with 420 psu.
but if you can afford then 500 or 550s are always better option.

Is that how you judge whether a psu can handle a card?-By counting whether the pin plugs coincide? There are many old gen psu's which come with only 1/2 6pins and will comfortably handle cards with an 8pin if u use a converter, taking into account that the rail u r sucking from is free to deliver that required power.
    And btw a 4890 does not necessarily require an 8pin and a 6-pin.Most 4890s(and most probably the 1 he's getting) require only 2X6pins.Atomic and 2GB Vapor-Xs require an 8pin.

Manufacturers' testbeds consists of heavily loaded configurations. The most power hungry processor known to the date of the specs published is always included in their setup along with at least 2HDDs,a sound card,A good board,2sticks 'f RAM.....bla...bla....bla....Considering all this they recommend a psu which will handle all 'f this equipments with some more room to spare.
So he is on the safe side with only 80watts less than what is recomended.
BTW RD has had a quite similar setup with a 4870 on 400watts 'f power with no issues i believe.
