Advice on buying a new ps3

My ps3 (phat 60GB model) betrayed me and got itself busted..im planning to buy another one instead of trying to fix it...one of the things i need advice on is should i get the slim one or should i try looking for a phat one instead (personally i like the phat ones looks).

is the phat the phat one worth the trouble and does anyone know the failure rate of the slim compared to the phat??

another thing is the whether i should buy it from bangladesh or abroad...what are the risk in buying from bangladesh????

abroad = better ofcourse......coz you get savings of money....by 33%.....as you know PS3 slim is 299 dollar but in our country it costs over 28K with no game bounded inside....and you get a better warranty abroad.......
and about USA....they always make better components.....

@gamer_101, its kind of a semi YLOD. in YLOD the ps3 refuses to start up, while mine starts and runs without trouble for a while (30min-1hr) then shuts down, showing a yellow light for a split second and then blinking red, there seems to be overheating, i tried to live with it but it is not possible anymore. i asked around but its pretty obvious that there is less than 20% chance of the people in bangladesh being able to fix it. and sony takes $150+tax to fix if you dont have your waranty which i dont. I thought it would be better to get a new one for $300 and get renewed waranty. i dont want the new one to die too, so i want to know if the slim is less likely to breakdown, if not i would rather get the phat one if i can find it, as it is much better looking and looks more expensive. does any of the stores in bd give warranty?? just incase i cant buy it from abroad, what are the risks of buying it from bd???

I'd say go for the slim. They have the new 45nm Cell processor which makes it run cooler and quieter, and the chances of it overheating is very little. Plus you get a 120GB HDD instead of 80GB..

Slim one is less likely to overheat because it has its PSU outside the console + what Gamer101 said. Try to find a PS3 that is made in the US or Japan. But how did it overheat in the first place. PS3s are very reliable. Was it because if dust or poor ventilation? How many hours did you play on average per day?

@fishd990, i didnt play for hours n hours like a maniac (although i would have liked to), i played for 2-3hrs straight max on rare occasions. i think it was because of dust, cuz i left it by itself for a while when i was studying for an exam. didnt get to clean it much. ofcourse i wouldnt be repeating that mistake again but the theres nothing i can do about now. i was really depressed at first but i guess im fine now that i ve got a chance to get another one.

Really, I hard that it uses a brick and it has no power switch like the Phat models. (I'm talking about the Main power switch behind the console.)
