Thumbs up ASUS ARES 4 GB and Crossfire (Review) - Fastest GPU on the planet

ARES, is "Radeon HD 5870 X2" in its truest sense. The name "Ares" comes from Greek mythology, the God of Warfare. The older ber-product from ASUS was named after Mars, the Roman God of war. By giving this a product name that precedes any company reference name (such as Radeon HD 5970 or dual-HD 5870), ASUS is giving its ARES a distinct identity that will help seat it in the upper-most quadrant of the market.

MARS was 1'f the worst creations on earth.
The ares is really good stuff - better voltage regulation,2GB of mem to go with each GPU,a good cooler, but itz jus not impressive for the money that u''l be paying for it.
It's extremely noisy,i certainly do not expect this sorta noise from a card equipped with such a high end cooling solution.
I was seriously anticipating it to OC a lot more given the better cooling and voltage regulation. The stock clocks of the ARES can be achieved on any generic 5970,in fact i wonder if ne1 operates his 5970 below those specs;although, yes it is not possible to break the memory beyond 1150 without addition of extra voltage, wich requires you to edit a bios or input them with overvolt tool evrytime you start up your machine. You can be doing a 900/1150MHz 24/7 stable with any generic 5970 available in the market.
This card is definitely not for a sensible consumer, but for enthusiasts who like collecting such rare hardware.
Obviously it iz one hell 'f a product, but the price tag of $1200 (1200 pounds in UK ! ! !,i don't understand why) is just not justified.I would be better off crossfiring a pair 'f 5970s with that sum of money.
BTW,I saw in a forum that it even costs upto $3500 !!!! in some place. Is that even posiible???

Of course there 's a good number when only a thousand units are manufactured.Part 'f the reason these are not mass produced.

Default Re: ASUS ARES 4 GB and Crossfire (Review) - Fastest GPU on the planet

$ 1350? lol. er theke to GTX 480 Sli onek valo perform korse....... I expected it to be more powerful. beating GTX 480 Sli atleast. As far i have seen the Ares in 85% competitive with HD 5870 CF and GTX 470 Sli. That is GTX 480 x 2 = $ 980 and HD 5870 x 2 = $ 850, GTX 470 x 2 = 620. Good now we see the difference. Asus has gone crazy. Its good stuff but price tag is too high n noise is one problem of it.
