I'm using Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB which i bought a few days ago by 6800tk from IDB. the performance is one of the best among 1tb hdd's and it's also very quiet. it also comes with 3 years full replacement warranty. what i'm trying to say is about warranty and it's a must for HDD....so if u live in BD u can go for the above mentioned one....or u can bring something else from usa like WD caviar black series. search on newegg for details.

The thing is, WD drives usually have a cache algorithm which have slower sequential read/writes but faster random read/writes than their Seagate/Samsung conterparts. Hence they do worse in benchmarks, better in day to day applications. A more extensive set of real-life mimicking benchmarks would shed more light I guess.

To be honest, the difference between the hard drives isnt that great though, very minimal. He'd be fine with either the Caviar Black or F3 but the 1.5TB Caviar Black seemed like a good deal

Kabbo Bhai, I understand what you mean. Ok, sorry. But I also joined on January and do I look like an old member? Anyways the way he called Sumon Bhai stupid...I just could not help it. Sorry to everyone. No hard feelings. Let's change the topic.

@Mazhar Bhai: Well I neither have the patience nor have the tools to benchmark HDDs but here is what I got from personal experience. I had a Samsung Spinpoint 160GB and a WD Caviar 160GB (both SATAII drives). When I copied a single large file from a DVD to the Samsung drive (without using Teracopy) in Windows 7, the preparing to copy screen used to come and stay for quite some seconds and then copy began. But as soon as the copy started, the speed rose by few MBps and stayed uniform. It did not change much over the whole copy period. When I tried the same file with the WD drive, the preparing to copy screen showed up only for a few miliseconds or did not show up at all sometimes. As soon as the copy began, the speed rose the same way but fell significantly over time. At the end the speed is quite lower than the one in the beginning. That was my personal experience. It could, obviously, be different with different people.
