Don't be surprise why the graphics of Call of Duty: Ghosts didn't look much like a next-gen game. There's a reason why the game looks like the one everyone played in 2007, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Even though after promoting with "next gen Call of Duty engine", Infinity Ward revealed that the game engine is just an updated version of the IDtech engine previously used in Modern Warfare 3.
According to Examiner, an Infinity Ward developer revealed this with an interview with the Official Playstation Magazine. The developer said:
"When we’re talking about a new engine we’re talking about upgrading significant systems within in that engine. We’re not talking about throwing it all away and saying we’re starting from the ground up".
"impossible to develop a new engine from the ground up in a two year cycle".
"What we do is we say, ‘okay what are the things that are significant and that we would say that are encompassing of the engine or its visual quality?"
"Are those being upgraded in a significant way? Alright, then I think that warrants that we’ve got a new engine on our hands".
Call of Duty: Ghosts revealed at the XBOX One event and will be releasing on November 13 for PC, current-gen and next-gen consoles.
