• UBISOFT: No Prince of Persia in near future

Ubisoft has 'paused' the Prince of Persia series while it considers new ideas. In an interview with IGN, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat confirmed that the series is currently taking a break, but explained that shouldn’t be taken as a bad sign.

    He said:
"Brand management is a tricky thing. It needs people's attention a lot. I think it is fair to say that, right now, Prince of Persia is being paused. We said the same thing for some other brands that suddenly popped up because a team is willing to do it."

"I'm not scared at all for Prince of Persia fans. Well find something to entertain them with in the future. Prince of Persia is part of Ubisoft's portfolio. As a matter of fact, we sometimes iterate on franchises and sometimes we give them time to breathe and time to grow, or time to rest.

"Prince of Persia is as important as any other franchise for Ubisoft. As soon as we have something to show, we will."

it is really good that at least one ip is given rest. last two of prince of persia games couldnt identify their roots - neither they are good platformers, good at puzzles nor they had good storyline. i think ubi should give rest to splinter cell, anno and driver as well.

Darksiders is certainly not the case for no PoP as they acquired it just now. Beside they got the Darksiders IP only, all the personnel hired by Crytek on their new studio. Beside AC, UBISOFT also have some very good IP's like Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Watch Dogs etc.
