• Asus Rampage III Extreme Pixellized

Asus has officially revealed its newest detailed pictures & technical specifications of the upcoming Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard based on the Intel X58 chipset.

Asus is still withholding all the key specifications, price and the availability date, but some features, like support for Intel's LGA 1366 CPUs, triple-channel DDR3 support, four PCI-Express x16 slots with Nvidia NF200 bridge chip and the support for SATA 6.0Gbps and USB 3.0 can be seen from the newly released pictures.

The new Rampage III Extreme will be packed with overclocking-friendly features as well as the support for mobile phone tweaking via Bluetooth, something that Asus is quite keen on promoting these days. The rest of the features include Gigabit LAN, 7.1-channel audio, eSATA, Firewire, and bunch of USB 2.0 ports.

The rest of the details should be available pretty soon, but I guess that such a goody-packed motherboard will have a pretty hefty price tag.

A purely OC based product = not meant for poor gamers/enthusiasts like us.

Love that black/red scheme, and nicely designed heatsinks!

IMBA Mobo, but the CPU socket is oddly placed. With big coolers, there might be space problems when installing the RAM-modules!

What is 'pure enthusiast' actually ? And, what's the problem if a poor man manages to buy i7-980X, This crap mobo ( ), 12GB RAM with 2x 5970 4GB ? He'll be kinda enthusiast.

Top ranking board, no doubt, but for those who nose into OCing, Gigabyte should be the safest and most flexible than ASUS. I don't see the back of this board, while the equivallent GB has copper sinks on the backplate as well. Used Intel, Asus & Gigabyte, had a bitter experience with Asus with EPROM failure while Gigabyte saved my life with the secondary BIOS. This board was suppose to have an external load console, I think Asus trimmed it off!

And yes, with a custom processor cooler, there is a good chance of coliding with the BANK 0 RAM.
